                                                                                 MARIE

"Listen," Chief Matsuda began. "We're all aware of your conflict with Geffrey James in the past, but pushing him out of the chair and slapping him is completely unacceptable. What were you thinking?" "I did it because he put Mr. Mikami in jail and lied about the whole thing," I answered. "I was very upset when I found out that Mr. Mikami was in jail for something that he didn't do." Chief Matsuda and Commander Aizawa looked at me with confused looks on their faces. "What are you talking about?" Commander Aizawa asked. "Mr. Mikami never assaulted Geffrey," I answered. "I was there when it all happened. Geffrey's nothing but a liar and a fraud." Chief Matsuda and Commander Aizawa had no idea what to say. (Or at least, that's what I'd like to believe.) "Okay then," Commander Aizawa said. "What happened?" I sighed before I got into the story. "I was in the stands in the stadium when Mr. Mikami came onto the football field. He told us that he was reopening the schools on Monday and since we didn't have a school to go to, he decided to keep us in volunteer work. Geffrey went down to confront Mr. Mikami and he told him to sit down. That's when he started saying very mean things about him. Mr. Mikami had enough of Geffrey's crap right then and there so he expelled him. Mr. Mikami told Geffrey to leave, but he continued to say stuff like he was going to burn in Hell with Teru Mikami and calling him a disgrace to Japan. All of a sudden, Mr. Mikami slapped him. Soon, Geffrey left the stadium, but not without telling Mr. Mikami that he'd made sure he'd regret this."

I paused for a second. "I saw Geffrey leave the stadium and he was walking perfectly fine," I continued. "He didn't act like he was struggling to walk. And it's not like one little slap can take away your ability to walk."  Chief Matsuda and Commander Aizawa looked at me as if they heard a completely different story than the one that they were used to. They must have believed Geffrey's story just like everyone who wasn't there when Mr. Mikami slapped Geffrey. I hoped that Chief Matsuda and Commander Aizawa would understand the reason why I slapped Geffrey, but they looked like they didn't believe me. "Please, Chief Matsuda and Commander Aizawa," I begged. "You have to let Mr. Mikami go. He doesn't belong in prison." Chief Matsuda and Commander Aizawa stayed silent. "Do you have any proof that what you're saying is true?" Chief Matsuda asked. I shook my head. "No," I answered. "But isn't hearing my story enough? The school has over a hundred kids. You can ask anyone who goes to Kanto Region American High School. They'll tell you that my story is true. Geffrey provoked Mr. Mikami to slap him."

Commander Aizawa sighed. "What am I going to do?" he asked himself. "Do you have any ideas, Aizawa?" Commander Aizawa exhaled before he said anything else. "To be fair, Geffrey and his girlfriend, Saiko had bullied Marie in the past," he answered. "Maybe we should see evidence before we intervene in this case." Chief Matsuda nodded. "Good idea," he told Commander Aizawa. Chief Matsuda sighed again before he and Commander Aizawa looked at me. "Alright, Marie," Chief Matsuda began. "We'll give you until 11:59 PM on February 28th." I dropped my jaw once I heard this. "Are you serious?" I asked. Chief Matsuda nodded. "Yes," he answered. "That's six days to prove to us that what you're telling us is true. If what you're saying is true, then we will release Kaito. If not, then I'm afraid he'll remain in prison until February 20th of 2011." I got curious about what I did to Geffrey. "What about what I did to Geffrey?" I asked. "Am I going to get in trouble for that?"

Commander Aizawa shook his head. "No," he answered. "We'll let you off with a warning for now, but that doesn't mean you are allowed to attack Geffrey if it's not out of self-defense. I'm afraid that if we hear anything about you attacking the individual again, then we're taking you to juvie, are we clear?" I nodded. "Yes, officers." "Good," Commander Aizawa let out. "Now go home. You have six days, eleven hours, forty-three minutes, and fifty-nine seconds left."
