MARIE
I sat there in the chair tied up again with rope. My hands were tied tightly behind my back and my feet were crossed as they were tied with rope as well. My body below my chest area was tied up to the chair. Light and I stared at each other for about thirty seconds without breaking eye contact or saying anything. He crossed his arms during the twenty-five-second mark and squinted his eyes at me. "Did you have to tie me up?" I asked. Light nodded his head. "If you're gonna throw dog toys at me just because I wanna have a little fun, then yes. Yes, I have to." He paused for a moment. "Nothing personal," he continued as he shook his head. "Just business. Shinigami-business." I then glared at Light. Shinigami-business, eh? I hope that the Shinigami king pays him good money for luring me into the bathroom, knocking me out with something metallic, tormenting me, and tying me up twice in one day. I thought to myself. I then thought about starting a conversation with Light about some of this stuff I didn't know about.
"How do you know Spanish?" I asked. "Did you learn it from my dad's family members since you were busy spying on me?" Light shook his head. "Nope, not even close to the truth," he answered. "I've been studying hundreds of languages besides English and Japanese since I died and became a Shinigami. I like Spanish. It's one of my favorite languages besides French and Italian. And by the time I knew of you, I'd already memorized every single word in the Spanish vocabulary. That way when the time came for me to choose a human to give my first Death Note to, I knew exactly who I wanted to pick." Light pointed at me. "You," he added. I leaned back in my seat and made a confused face. Can a Shinigami pick who he or she wants to give the Death Note to? Doesn't sound weird at all. Just...confusing. I thought to myself. I heard Alex meow and run up to Light. "Hello," he said looking down at Alex. He was trilling as he came up into his arms. Light laughed once he picked up Alex and held him close to his chest. I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Traitor," I said under my breath knowing all that Light had done to me so far.
Light and Alex looked at me. "Hey!" he shouted. "Don't take it out on him because he wants to get to know me!" He paused for a moment as Alex rubbed against Light's cheek and purred up a storm. "I have a soft spot for animals," he told me. "Especially for cats." Alex jumped down from Light's arms and went straight back to my bed. Light walked closer to me. "You know, I'm surprised that you consider yourself a cat person because you and Khloe are close," he said out loud. "Maybe you're more of a dog person than you think." He stopped talking right before he bent down and got into my personal space for my face. "Boop!" he said before touching my nose with his right pointy figure. I didn't respond kindly to that, even though I knew that I should have followed Christy's advice not to do anything I'd regret.
Pushing her advice away, I spat in Light's face. His smile faded as he wiped the spit from his right cheek with his right sleeve. "Why you little-!" he said as an angry look plagued his face. "WENCH!" Light got up quickly and looked like he was about to go out of the room. He picked up a bag that was on the floor and then turned back to look at me. "I didn't want to do this," he said. "I told you that I didn't want to do this,...but you kept making it harder and harder for me." A horrified look plagued my face right when he said that. "I wanted to be nice to you," he continued. "I WANTED TO! But you just had to go and make things a lot more difficult than they needed to be." He paused for a moment. "I'm so sorry that I had to do this..." My jaw dropped as he kept talking. Is he going to write my name in the Death Note and then kill me? I don't wanna die yet! Maybe I should just apologize to him! Surely, it's not too late! I thought to myself. "Light, I'm sorry," I tried to apologize. "I didn't mean to..." He didn't accept my apology then and there. Instead, he took a more sinister approach. "WELL, I'M GONNA DO IT ANYWAY!" he yelled at me. I braced myself for the cold hands of the Grim Reaper to snatch me and take me away at any second. That's when I heard the sound of someone messing with tape. I opened my eyes and saw Light holding a row of grey duct tape.
