Chapter 62: Meeting the Voice Actors

FEBRUARY 18, 2006

TOKYO, JAPAN

AT 6:30 PM 

                                                                                KAITO (MR. MIKAMI) 

I walked with Minako up the stairs. "Do you think these adaptions of what happened are misguiding people?" she asked. "I don't know," I answered. "I didn't expect the anime adaption to kill off L. Apparently, our school made the same mistake too. They're keeping it too close to what happened so they're not misguiding them at all, but I don't think anyone should know that the first L is dead. Once someone learns that Near is L, who knows what will happen? We have to make sure to label this as a loose version of the real story no matter what. I hope that's what the people who created the anime said." Minako and I headed into the mall area. We didn't know where Lidner and Near were at. We hoped that they didn't just leave. Although we knew that the first L and Near had been close to each other, we hoped that they didn't leave. I would have been upset, but I'd also be very understanding with Near since the scene where L died set him off. 

As Minako and I kept searching for Near, we saw him along with Lidner eating dinner in the food court near an Italia Express. "There they are," I told Minako as I walked up to them. I heard Minako's footsteps following me. "Hey," I greeted Lidner and Near. I watched as they both looked up at me. "Hey," Near greeted us. "Are you okay, Near?" I heard Minako ask. "We heard you screaming and crying during the performance." "He's better now," Lidner answered. "He just didn't expect to see the first Watari's death or the first L's death. I thought getting him some food would cheer him up." "That's fine," Minako said to Lidner. "Near, do you feel comfortable going back to the stadium after you finish dinner? Kaito and I won't blame you if you don't want to. If you like, you can go home if you want." Near shook his head. "I'll go back," he answered. "I want to see how this ends. I've bought the anime on DVD and it seems like they've released a manga to go along with it." "What?" I asked before I sighed in annoyance. Great. First an anime adaptation and now a manga adaptation? This is a real story that happened in real life, not a made-up story. I thought to myself. 

"The manga adaption came out not long after the anime," Near informed me. "It leads me to believe they wanted to make it like some fictional horror movie saga." I thought about what I was going to say, but that's when I remembered seeing the first couple of episodes on the TV. At first, I ignored it since I didn't care for the way it was portrayed. It reminded me of Stab which was a movie within the Scream universe. It wasn't as good as what everyone said it was. From what the audience saw, it looked like a movie made by amateurs, but to everyone in the Scream movies, it was really good. Especially that opening scene. Who takes a shower when they have a lit stove and popcorn on it? Other than that, the effects were cringy in Stab. I watched Scream with Minako and I guess I wasn't as scared watching the first two movies as when I was watching Halloween from 1978. Minako wants me to watch Halloween II along with the other movies excluding Halloween: Ressurection, but no, I don't want to. The first one was scary enough. I hid behind Minako whenever Michael killed Bob. She was laughing about it though. One of the things special about the night that made it so special was that Minako and I shared our first kiss. We really like each other and on that night before we went to bed, we finally kissed each other. 

Throughout our whole relationship, Minako and I have never given ourselves to each other. Minako was still a virgin. She had been in two relationships before her relationship with me and had still managed to keep her virginity. I had only been in one relationship despite having a few flings now and then. However, my first girlfriend wasn't the kind of woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. She was so kind to me at first, but when I refused to have sex with her, that's when she started acting like a toddler when their parents wouldn't allow them to have their way. One day, I went to her house to return something and found myself lurking inside her house since she was still in the house. I was about to leave, but that's when she captured me. She tied me up to the bed and taped my mouth shut so that no one would hear me scream. Before the night was over, my ex-girlfriend cut off all of my clothes and raped me. The woman who I thought was a sweet girl who would love me forever was nothing more than a monster who kidnapped me, raped me, choked me, and eventually tried to kill me. I ran out of the house after getting a bathrobe on.
