TOKYO, JAPAN

                                                                                    MARIE

I was busy drying myself off with a towel since I was still soaked. "If we were just taking a walk in the rain," I began. "We still wouldn't be as soaked." "True," Mr. Mikami agreed. "But if we didn't go underwater, we would have burned to death. Look on the bright side, Marie. We were underwater for a long time, but we managed to make it out alive. You were in a situation like a week ago, but you managed to survive. You and Vincent managed to survive." "But Vincent lost consciousness when he was underwater," I reminded Mr. Mikami. "He could have drowned and I would have had to deal with losing him along with Mei, Jirou, Pauline, and Mamoru." I continued to dry myself off. "Mr. Mikami, do you think that Pauline murdered Mamoru and killed herself?" I asked. Mr. Mikami sighed. "That's what it looked like," he answered. "However, I've been getting this feeling that it somehow wasn't too different to Mei and Jirou's deaths." "So, you think it may have been another freak accident?" I asked. Mr. Mikami shrugged. "I don't know," I answered. "We'll have to wait and see what Chief Matsuda announces. The last I heard was that both of their bodies were still having an autopsy on them to determine if they had died in a freak accident or if it was a murder-suicide case."

I continued to dry myself off with my soaked towel. "Was that chlorine in the pool?" I asked. "I don't think so," Mr. Mikami answered. "I don't smell it on me." I sniffed myself. "Nope, no chlorine," I let out. I sighed and lowered my head.

                                                                           KAITO (MR. MIKAMI)

I looked at Marie and saw that she looked a little sad. "Are you okay, Marie?" I asked. "What's wrong?" I watched as she looked into my eyes. "I wish that all four of them were still alive," Marie answered. "Yeah," I agreed. "Me too." We continued to dry ourselves off until I heard the sound of a woman shouting my name, "Kaito!" I quickly turned and saw that it was Minako.

                                                                                   MARIE

I watched as Mr. Mikami ran up to Ms. Hirota and embraced her. For whatever reason, Ms. Hirota was crying when she was embracing Mr. Mikami. "Marie!" I heard someone shouting my name. I turned and saw Near running up to me. "Near!" I shouted back. I ran up to him and gave him a big hug. "I'm so happy that you're okay," Near said to me. "Kaito, why are you soaking wet?" I heard Ms. Hirota ask as Near and I turned to look at them. "She's right," Near agreed as we looked back at each other and stopped hugging. "What happened? Why are you both soaked?" "I rescued Mr. Mikami from drowning in a bathtub," I answered. "Then we had to hide out from the fire in a hatch that was already filled up with water. It led us straight into the wave pool." I shivered. "It's still pretty cold," I let out. "The water was colder than the water in the crypt. I'm surprised that it wasn't as cold as the water on Titanic." "That's a different level of cold," Near informed me. "It would hurt to go into that water. It feels like knives are impaling every inch of your body."

I nodded. "I'm aware of that." I sighed. "What a night," I said to Near. "It's not over yet," Near told me. "We have other schools coming up to perform pretty soon. It's going to be a long night." Suddenly, we heard the fire alarm going off. I shrieked and covered my ears. "There's a fire in the building!" we heard Chief Matsuda shout. "Everyone get out!" We saw a lot of people rushing out of the building. "Come on, Marie," Near told me. "Let's go." We quickly followed everyone out of the building. "The fire," Ms. Hirota let out. "That explains why you and Marie are soaked." "Well, we didn't have any other choice," Mr. Mikami told her. "It was either get burned to a crisp or swim the way out." "I'm glad you both decided to swim the way out," Ms. Hirota agreed. "I'm glad this isn't a stampede or something," Near let out. "I'm glad that this isn't either." Suddenly, we heard an explosion coming from upstairs. Everyone gasped and panicked. This time, the whole scene was filled with people screaming and running out of the building. I exclaimed as I got lost in the sea of people. "Near!" I shouted. "Marie!" I heard Near shout. "Near, help!" I shouted. I later got trampled over by the people who were running.
