MAMORU
I lay there in pain not knowing how I was going to call Chief Matsuda or tell anyone that I needed an ambulance. As I continued to lay there, the smell of something cooking filled my nostrils. I had no idea what it was, but it felt like it was very close. I hoped that it wasn't the stove since the lava lamp was on the right burner. I really hoped that it was all in my head and that there was nothing burning. I clenched my wound on my chest and hoped that a miracle would happen. I really hoped that the house phone would ring and that they would call the police or an ambulance for me. "Hey, Mamoru," I heard a familiar voice call out my name. "Sorry that I took so long. I was just taking..." I turned and looked to my right as I saw a girl in a red bathrobe entering the kitchen. I felt really relieved when I saw her. It was Pauline! I watched as Pauline looked down. She made a horrified look on her face and gasped. "Mamoru!" she cried out.
Pauline ran up to me and bent down. I've never felt so relieved knowing that she was safe and that nothing had happened to her yet. "Pauline," I let out weakly. "I'm so happy...that you're safe." I wheezed before I started coughing. "Oh, Mamoru," Pauline said. "I don't like that cough." I continued to breathe heavily. "Do you mind...?" Pauline asked. Before she could finish, I removed my hand and showed her the stab wound in my chest. Pauline gasped when she saw it. "Oh no," she let out. "Mamoru, what happened? How did you get this stab wound in your chest?" I exhaled. "I slipped," I answered weakly. I coughed again before I winced in pain. "I don't know what I slipped on, but whatever it was made the knife land into my chest." Pauline looked to her right and picked up a knife with my blood-drenched more than halfway across the blade. Suddenly, Pauline exclaimed and dropped the knife next to me. "I'm sorry," she told me. "I couldn't hold it. Knowing all that happened in Final Destination, I know that Chief Matsuda and the others would probably thought that I had stabbed you." I sighed. "It's okay," I assured Pauline. "If I live through this, I will make sure that they know that you didn't. I promise."
Pauline smiled. "Thank you," she told me. "And besides, what is this crap?" Pauline and I heard the sound of something dripping. I looked up and saw the bottle of liquor dripping from its cap. Pauline turned around and got up as she saw the bottle of liquor dripping. "This," she said. I watched as Pauline removed the almost empty bottle of liquor from the shelf. "Oh my God," I heard her mutter. I watched as she bent down and looked at me. "This is really bad," Pauline commented. "Were you trying to get drunk?" I groaned. "Yeah, something like that," I answered. "But that's not what's important." "Then what is?" Pauline asked. I tried to get up, but the pain from my stab wound was weighing me down. "Woah woah woah," Pauline let out. "Be careful, Mamoru." I almost lost my balance, but Pauline was there to catch me. "Oh," she let out. "Mamoru. Please let me carry you." I began to stand back up slowly with Pauline's help.
"Hang on," she said as I winced in pain. "I'll call Chief Matsuda."
PAULINE
I picked up the house phone and tried to dial Chief Matsuda's number but to no avail. "What?" I asked. I dialed it again to no avail. "Come on! Please! My boyfriend's dying here!"
MAMORU
The smell of something cooking again filled my nostrils. I looked at the stove and saw that it was on. The lava lamp was on and I got the feeling that it was going to explode any second now. I watched as Pauline tried to call Chief Matsuda once again to no avail. I watched as Pauline began to sniff something. "What is that smell?" she asked. I dropped my jaw and gasped as she made her way closer to the stove. I heard the sound of glass cracking and got the feeling that if I didn't do something, we would both share the same fate. I wasn't going to allow Pauline to die at a young age. I was certain that she was going to live a long happy life with or without me. A couple of steps closer to the stove, I knew what I was going to do. This was it. It was either Pauline's life or both of our lives. "Why does it smell like something's cooking in here? This is very..." Pauline asked. She wasn't able to finish her sentence because of me. I pushed her out of the way telling her, "Pauline, get down!" I pushed her down to the ground right before the lava lamp exploded. I turned around and saw a million shards of glass heading everywhere across the kitchen. I closed my eyes as I felt millions of shards hitting my body before I fell to the ground.
