Reunited

IF SOMEONE HAD TOLD HER A MONTH AGO, that Frank Zhang would end up being the strongest leader amongst them, she wouldn't have laughed per say, but she definitely wouldn't have believed it.

It came as a relief honestly. Her anger gave her enough energy to fight her way through those monsters but that was her line. She didn't have it in her to come up with solutions. So when Frank is commanding the army like something out of a movie. She reveled in the opportunity to do nothing but kill monster after monster.

She wouldn't fail at fighting. It was the one thing she was best at.

In fact the only time she got distracted was for Ace.

Of course it was.

She hated that she knew his voice so well. Right after Jason gave up his power she heard him laughing. The laugh that managed to lift the spirit of every room you could hear it in. It was out of place in a battle. It was breathy and slightly painful.

When she found him he was on the floor fending off assault after assault. Even his speed couldn't afford enough time to get him up. All he could manage was to retreat backwards.

Arya ran for him, killing every monster that dared to step, even a fraction, into her path. For a moment she was scared she wouldn't reach him. It all disappeared when she threw her trident through the hellhound's neck.

Her worry was slow to leave her even after he was safe.

Even when they went off again in different directions and continued the fight she found herself checking in on him. She knew then could take care of himself, and that she was doing nothing but putting herself at risk by being concerned about him.

Except she couldn't stop.

The idea of Ace not making it out of this made her blood run cold and her heartbeat significantly faster.

The battle ended and Arya found herself filled with a different kind of dread. One all consuming thing told her that what was now so close, was hanging on by a thread. They had no more time to waste.

Even if that meant going into a tunnel, led by ghosts, where none of them could see a thing.

When the door closed behind them, Arya felt like she was suffocating. Overwhelmed by what they might find ahead and what Gaia had managed to do to her in the past. Voices around her whispered to her, reaching for her. These weren't Nico's shadows that she used too. These ones were vengeful and desperate. Ready to pounce on a sign of weakness.
