Annabelle

I ENROLLED IN high school, though I had to list someone as my guardian and I sure as hell wasn't listing my uncle. If I listed him as my guardian, which he was the only current alive guardian, then he'd know exactly where I was. So, out of desperation, I listed Damon as my guardian, telling the receptionist I didn't remember his phone number, but he was currently taking me in and I would get the number to them.

Of course, I never planned on actually getting the number to them. Hesitantly, I stepped out of the main office as I glanced around the crowded school.

"Hi, I'm Caroline. You're the new girl, right?" A cheerful-looking blonde greeted me, sticking her hand out for me to shake. For a second, all I could hear was the blood pumping through her veins but then I shook my head, shaking her hand.

"Yeah, is it that obvious," I laughed before adding, "I'm Annabelle Denver."

"Well, Annabelle, it's nice to meet you. I offered to show you the ropes, and take you to your first class," Caroline explained as she began to move, leaving me to speed walk so I could catch up to her. This girl was very talkative. "So, what brings you to Mystic Falls?"

"Uhm," I paused for a moment as I thought of what to say. "Just... trying to get away from one of my family members for a little bit. They are driving me crazy."

Caroline seemed to believe me, nodding enthusiastically. "I get that, my mom is the sheriff here and sometimes it feels like she's just...there but not present, you know?"

"Yeah, I get it," I nodded. Caroline continued to talk to me as she walked me to class, only pausing to talk to Stefan and his girlfriend, Elena, briefly. Something about a double date.

That night, I decided to go to Stefan and Damon's. News got around about this girl, something starting with a V, and the news passed it off as an animal attack. Although I wasn't quite sure if that was what it was, so I opted to talk to Stefan about it. My car was still on the side of the road, yet I had no idea where exactly so I just left it. Since I didn't have a car, I had to walk there.Well, actually, I vampire sped there for half the time but due to not feeding recently, I was much slower.

When I raised my hand to knock on the front door, I could hear glass shattering and grunts of pain coming from inside. In a panic, I twisted the door knob in hopes that it was unlocked. Much to my luck, it was. I rushed inside, noticing a woman dead on the floor. She was grey, alerting me that she was a dead vampire. I gasped as Stefan lay on the floor, a piece of glass sticking out of his side. Damon seemed to be dealing with another vampire.

With my speed, I rushed over to Damon and ripped the vampire off of Damon. The vampire that was previously on Damon glared at me before heading towards me.  Before he could pounce on me, Damon threw him back as Stefan ripped the glass from his side.
