Annabelle
FINALLY, AFTER ANOTHER minute of hearing them kiss and sitting on the floor, I heard them leave. In order to make sure they had actually left for the night, I sat on the floor for another couple of minutes before standing up.
I moved towards Caroline's couch, feeling small tears escape my eye as I collapsed on it. Unbeknownst to me, I stayed there for another half an hour until Caroline got back. As soon as the door open, I stumbled to my feet, quickly wiping the tears from my eyes as I moved towards the front door, fully intent on making something up to tell her mom.
Only, it wasn't her mom. Caroline slipped off her shoes, a surprised look settling on her face once she saw me. "I thought you were going home."
"I was," I said, trying to steady my voice. Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked at me.
"What's wrong?" Caroline asked, voice laced with concern as she stepped forward. I felt my face crumble as I all but fell into her arms.
"J-Jeremy and Bonnie, they're, uh, t-they're dating now. O-or they will be soon," I informed the blonde, feeling her pull me closer.
"What do you mean?" Her hands softly weaved through my hair as I clung to her shirt.
"They were kissing in the k-kitchen," I said, a sob racking my body. "I think him, Care. I-I haven't felt this way for anyone in centuries."
"Okay, come on." Caroline pulled away from me, tugging me into the kitchen as she forced me to sit on a stool. Steady tears were still streaming down my face. She moved towards her freeze, yanking it open. When she turned back around, she had a whole tub of chocolate ice cream in her hand. "Call Stefan because you're staying here tonight. You can borrow a pair of my pajamas and we can eat ice cream and watch movies all night."
I sniffled as I gave the girl a sad smile. "Okay."
"Now no more tears," She said, giving me a pointed look as she tugged open a drawer, grabbing two spoons. My hands wiped away the tears as I dug into my pocket, pulling out my phone. As I called Stefan, Caroline put the ice cream in a microwave for a few seconds so it could thaw.
"Hey, Belle. Do you need me to come get you?" Stefan's voice filled my ears.
"No," I said, shaking my head even though he couldn't see me. Caroline turned, setting the ice cream on the counter before jabbing the two spoons in it. She left the room quickly, my eyes trailing after her in confusion.
"Are you okay? You sound like you are crying," Stefan pointed out, a hint of concern laced in his voice.
"I'm fine," I said, tugging my sleeve over my hand as I wiped my nose. "I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be staying at Caroline's tonight."
"Okay. Do you want me to bring you anything?"
"No thanks. Care's gonna lend me some clothes and any extra stuff I need, like a toothbrush," I explained. "I just didn't want you to freak when I didn't come home."
