Annabelle
MY FACE WAS sore from crying and my mood wasn't even lifted when Caroline arrived. "Belle," Caroline whispered my name, sitting at the edge of the barrier.
"Hello, Caroline," Nik greeted the girl, his voice monotone.
"I wasn't talking to you," Caroline snapped, looking at me. "Belle, are you okay?"
"Please, just go," I mumbled, reaching up to wipe the tear descending down my face. "Get Tyler and leave."
"I don't want to leave you alone. This isn't fair to you," Caroline said softly.
"Jeremy killing my uncle wasn't fair either," I pointed out. With a heavy sigh, Caroline stood up and turned towards Tyler.
"Come home. Don't stoop to his level," Caroline told Tyler, who was leaning against the kitchen counter.
"He destroyed my life," Tyler argued. "I plan on being present for every second of his misery until I can kill him myself."
"What about Annabelle?" Caroline asked gently, though Tyler didn't reply. I felt his eyes burning holes in the side of my head but he didn't verbally say anything. "Fine. You can gloat and multitask," Caroline said after a moment as she looked around. "This place is a disaster. Starting with a horrific burnt corpse." She grabbed some sort of tarp from a cabinet, giving Tyler one end before laying it over Kol's body.
"Tyler's mother is dead," NIk said suddenly, watching as they drapped the sheet over Kol. Caroline, with her hands on her hips, turned to look at Nik. "So if my brother, Annabelle's uncle. We're even. Call Bonnie and get her to let me out of here."
"I will never, ever, help you," Caroline shook her head.
"How quickly you forget the part where I saved Tyler from the misery of being a werewolf," Nik said, though his words were nothing more than words to me. I was too far gone to actually process the words, for them to have a meaning. "Or the night your mother invited me into her home to save the life of her precious daughter."
"How delusional are you?" Caroline snapped suddenly, moving closer to the barrier. "You kill his mother. And let's not forget that we're standing in a house where Elena's aunt Jenna used to live. Or did you think that your charm would make us forget how you killed her, too? You-you...you know what? No. I am not going to engage in this. You are not even worth the calories I burn talking to you."
Suddenly, I barely registered Caroline crying out as Nik grabbed the lamp pole, jabbing into my best friend's stomach. Nik used this opportunity to pull Caroline into the living room, sinking his fangs into him."
"Stop this," I screamed as I shoved him off of her, Caroline's body hitting the ground hard.
"Now, that was definitely worth the calories," Nik smirked, looking at Tyler, blood staining his lips.
