Annabelle
IT FELT WEIRD going back to school, with Alaric gone and everything. Bekah, however, was more than excited.
"Do you really have to pass out all of those?" I said, raising my eyebrows at the posters in her hands. It was a sign for the party she was hosting at the new house she bought. Despite the new curfew rule, she decided to rebel.
"Yes, I want as many people to show up as they can," Bekah said, grinning at me. "Will you help me pass them out?"
"No," I immediately shook my head. "But I'll be there."
Bekah's grin widened, if possible. "That's my niece, always along for the party."
"Only if you won't tell my father," I shot back.
"As long as you don't do too much drinking. A cup or two should be plenty," Bekah told me and I rolled my eyes at her, huffing. "Just because I'm having a party with alcohol doesn't mean you get to drink a bunch. I'm still your aunt and that will always come first."
"Yeah, yeah, always and forever," I reminded her. "Well, I'm going to get to class."
"Wait, beauty," Bekah called out, causing me to stop in my tracks. She leaned against the lockers, posters still in hand. "Elijah has instructed me to keep you away from the Gilbert boy."
"Seriously?" I groaned, crossing my arms. "I don't see why I can't be with him."
Bekah shrugged. "I don't know. Something about how Elena is involved with the Salvatores, hence the reason that you will be in danger with him. Blah, blah, blah, as long as Jeremy brings you no harm, I don't care about him. If you're happy with him, that's all I care about, beauty."
"I am," I nodded before clarifying with her. "Happy with him, that is."
"Good," Bekah gently moved a strand of hair out of my face. "Shall he bring you any harm, I'll kill him." Her smile turned to a dangerous one, deathly serious about the threat.
"I know."

After school that evening, I made sure to call my father early so he wouldn't worry that I wasn't going to call later. Although, he did question why I wasn't calling before I went to bed.
I merely told him the same thing I told Nik; I was going to hang out with Bekah tonight and have a girl night. Technically, it wasn't a lie so he couldn't detect it. I just didn't want to call him in case he somehow knew what was going on today. He always knew, even if he was God knows where.
I nurtured a cup of beer as I stood beside Caroline, watching everyone mingle. "So, what happened with you and Jeremy the other night?" She gave me a teasing smile.
I tried to play it cool, reassuring myself that she had no idea what Jeremy and I had done. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh, but you do," Caroline gave me a wicked smile. I bit my lip before downing the rest of my beer. "I saw the mark on your neck."
