Annabelle
THAT NIGHT, I tried to go back to the motel that I stayed in when I first came here, yet I was unlucky and there were no rooms available. Despite the fact I desperately wanted to warm up, I ended up sitting on a curb for the next hour. I had dug into my suitcase, found a jacket Stefan had bought me, and pulled it tightly around my body.
While I was still a vampire and really shouldn't have this problem, I was shivering and my hands were turning numb; a yellowish color replacing the warmth.
To say the least, I was freezing and had nowhere to go. My nose was running, which I believed was impossible because I was dead, though it was still occurring to me.
Eventually, I ended up wandering around town with no place in mind. I didn't know this town well enough to find another place to stay and my phone had died twenty minutes ago while I was freezing my butt off.
The night seemed to last far too long, but I was extremely thankful when the sun was in the sky. I had no idea what time it was, so I wandered around until I found a landmark: the Grill. I didn't really want to go in there, but they had coffee so it was a no-brainer.
I ordered a coffee, quickly downing it, before realizing I was nearly three hours late to school. I debated not going but it was a good way to pass the time until night came. Thankfully, I managed to make it to class right as the bell rang, signaling that my third class had started. I was thankful seeing as I didn't have to deal with awkwardly walking in late.
However, that meant I was alone at lunch. Elena hadn't shown up for school, nor did Stefan, and Jeremy seemed to be upset, too. I tried to approach him but he shook his head and walked away.
So, I ended up sitting alone with my back against a tree. I was beyond thankful when Caroline approached me, not seeming to be mad.
"Hey, Belle, what are you doing over here alone?" Caroline asked, peering down at me with her hands on her hips.
"I'm not welcome with our friends anymore," I shrugged, tipping my head back so I could see her. Her smile turned to a look of confusion.
"What? Why?"
I bit my lip, unsure if I should tell her in fear of her leaving me. "Klaus is my uncle. Everyone was...betrayed and basically blamed me for his actions. Stefan kicked me out of the house for it."
"What!" Caroline now looked concerned for me, which confused me. "How could he do that?"
"You're not mad?" I asked slowly, tipping my head to the side slightly.
She quickly shook her head. "You're not your uncle. Sure, he's your blood, but that doesn't make you like him." I slowly began to smile.
"Thank you for understanding. I swear, I had no idea what was going on. Nobody tells me anything," I quickly explained to her. She moved to sit beside me, wrapping her arms around her legs.
