Annabelle

SUDDENLY, THE GUARD stormed in, followed by another. They were both carrying things. "I got this. Bring the other one in," the guard who had shot Stefan said. The second guard nodded in reply as Bekah weakly began calling out.

"Excuse me! Hello, sir," Bekah breathed heavily, putting up an act as she coughed loudly. The guard cocked his gun, making sure it was loaded before moving to stand in front of her cell.

"I thought I told you to shut up," the guard snapped.

"Here's the thing, my family, w-we have money," Bekah began. "Castles, apartments, jewelry. Just name your price and let me out." The guard seemed as if he debated it for a second before deciding against it, stepping closer to the bars.

"I'd much rather watch you die." Before he had much time to brace himself, Bekah bared her teeth at him. The guard stumbled back, gun raised. He had gone back just enough, allowing Stefan to grab him and slam his head against the metal multiple times. Eventually, he collapsed, head bleeding. Slowly, I watched as the pool of blood got bigger, moving towards Elena.

"Elena. Elena," Stefan called out and I pushed myself forward.

"Elena, wake up," I urged her and her eyes cracked open. She looked longingly at the blood before reaching through the gap in the bars, fingertips attempting to swipe some blood. She grunted as she pushed her arm further through. With great struggle, she eventually got some on her hand and brought it to her lips, licking the blood off.

With that, the transition was now complete and she was officially a vampire.

Once we managed to get the bars open, thanks to Elena grabbing the key off the guard, we all quickly dispersed. My aunt and I fled the scene. While my aunt wanted to get home, I told her I wanted to visit Jeremy.

She was hesitant to leave me alone, seeing how the whole council knew of us, but I assured her I would be fine. However, I hesitated while I stood on the Gilbert's front porch. With a heavy sigh, I allowed my back to slide down the side of their wall, sitting beside the door.

The dagger and ashes were still secure in my jacket and I quickly pulled them out, popping the lid off the bottle containing white oak ash.

The crescent moon was high in the sky, shining down on me as I made impulsive decisions. Slowly, I dipped the dagger in the ash before popping the lid back on and setting it to the side. I sniffed as tears began to flow from my eyes.

I held the dagger in my hands, staring at it for a moment before lifting it. I pointed it towards my heart, a light gasp escaping my lips as the cold metal brushed against my shirt, the coolness radiating through my shirt and onto my chest.

Suddenly, before I could drive it into my heart, the front door opened. "Annabelle," Jeremy gasped as he saw me, quickly dropping to his knees beside me and yanking the dagger away from me.
