The next day, after spending the night gazing at the small handful of pictures I had of Finn, from which I took at the ball, I headed to the school to help Caroline with the decade dance set up. I had wished things had ended differently the other night.

"What is this?" I heard Caroline say, drawing my attention to her. She was glaring at the tub of decorations in hand.

"It's the decade dance. Remember, you made us sign up to help," Matt reminded her.

"No. This!" She grabbed a handful of purple feathers. "The twenties. We're doing the seventies."

"Too flashy, people." The sound of Bekah's voice made me roll my eyes. Of course, she was just doing this to trigger Caroline. "It's supposed to be a speakeasy, not the world fair." Slowly, Caroline turned to look at my aunt and I decided to make me way over there, hoping to prevent any major fights. "Ah, good, you're here. We need help setting up the tables, so get to it."

"Bekah, play nice," I warned her, crossing my arms as Caroline glared at her.

"I am playing nice," Bekah defended herself with a shrug.

"What do you think you're doing?" Caroline asked her.

"Somebody has to be in charge," Bekah said, as if it was obvious.

"Yeah, me," Caroline snapped. "I'm the chair of the dance committee. The theme of the decade dance is the 1970s."

"So you'd rather dress in tacky colors with bad hair than be a classic flapper from the jazz age?" Belah asked, her voice laced in snarkiness. "Honestly, I don't know what my brother sees in you.?

"Bekah," I hissed.

"Maybe he sees a challenge," Caroline shot back, making me grin. "You see, unlike some other people, I don't sleep with everyone I make eye contact with."

"Okay," I quickly cut in, shooting Caroline a warning look. "Too far, Care."

"Maybe we can do both decades," Matt suggested, attempting to ease the tension. It didn't seem to do anything.

"No," Both Caroline and Bekah said at the same time.

"Well, at least they can agree on something," I muttered to Matt, who offered a small smirk.

"Come on, Matt, don't be a coward. You know you loved my twenties idea when I presented it to the group," Bekah said as she watched the boy closely.

Caroline turned around, looking defended. "Traitor!"

"Bell bottoms and disco? I don't know, this just seemed cooler," Matt said honestly, shooting an apologetic look to Caroline.

"See, it's just cooler," Bekah whispered in Caroline's ear.
