Annabelle

Despite Stefan having no relation or control over me, I got scolded for a solid twenty minutes for getting drunk 'at the worse time.' His words, not mine.

Not to mention, Tyler had fled town, leaving his mother worried about him. I tried to call, beg him to come back, but I gave up after being declined multiple times.

On top of all that, Caroline was freaking out because Matt had found out about Caroline being a vampire and went MIA. Now, we had to find him before he told anyone.

"Caroline, I can't find him. I've searched the whole woods," I sighed after she picked up the phone.

"Don't worry about it, Belle. I found him," Caroline told me and I froze.

"Well, is he going to tell anyone?" Not only did Matt knowing jeopardize Caroline's safety but it also put mine and Stefan's at risk. One word from him about vampires and we were all in danger.

"I-I don't know," Caroline admitted. "I don't think so?"

"Is that a question or answer?" I asked, arching an eyebrow even though she couldn't see me.

After a moment of silence, Caroline admitted, "He didn't say but wanted to know more, so I took that as a good sign."

"Good sign!" I exclaimed. She had really lost it, not seeing how dangerous it was that Matt knew about us. "Caroline, if he tells anyone anything then we're dead."

"He won't," Caroline defended him. "Look, I've got to go."

"Caroline, wait," I protested. "Don't do anything-" The call disconnected and I let out an angry yell, tossing my phone at a tree. I had so much pent-up anger that I didn't know what to do with it.

It hadn't been long practicing my control with my father before he was daggered once more, so I didn't exactly trust my control now. I huffed, walking over to my phone and picked it up. The screen was cracked but it still worked, so I took that as a good sign.

After school was my first school dance and I was extremely excited. People were working to set up during school, the theme being one I could easily dress up for, though it was my least favorite era. Sadly, the theme for tonight was the 1960s.

Since I had no date, I opted to go alone. I had lived through the era, I knew it well and Caroline helped me pick out an outfit. She picked out a pink dress with a circle on it, the sleeves flaring out. To go along with it, she lent me a pink headband and I did my makeup accordingly.

Everyone was dancing together at the dance, the floor full of teenagers. I arrived at the party late, having to work up the nerve to show up.

Caroline had talked me into going, telling me to face my fears and that I couldn't avoid Jeremy forever. Of course, I knew she was right. However, when I arrived, it was stuck on a slow dance so I stayed off to the side, watching everyone.
