Annabelle

"Be careful, guys," I said as Jeremy stood up. He and Bonnie were going to go to the edge of the school line where they could be surrounded by trees. It was sort of meant to protect them is anything went wrong with Alaric.

"You too," Jeremy said as he kissed the side of my head. "Don't die on me today, B."

"Only if you don't, J. You still owe me a round of pool and a picnic date," I told him, shooting him a wink. His face flushed as he realized what I was referring to. However, the two quickly left after that, leaving me to stand guard outside.

I watched from outside closely. From out here, everything seemed fine. Minutes passed and there was no sign of anyone. I was beginning to get worried until I saw Nik running outside with Elena in his arms.

"What's going on?" I asked, eyes hurriedly searching Elena to see if she was alright.

"She's fine. We failed but we're going home so you can finish packing and we can get the hell out of here," Nik informed me, walking towards the car.

"What about the others?" I trailed after him, glancing back at the school.

"They're fine," Nik replied. "Now get in the car."

"Uncle Nik-"

"Now, Annabelle." His tone left no room for defiance so I quickly got in but was forced to go upstairs upon getting home. My room was mostly packed, thanks to Tyler, and he was still upstairs when I got there.

"You're back quick," Tyler commented.

"Yeah," I sighed as I stepped into the room. "We got Elena out but Alaric's not dead. I don't really know what happened. I didn't have time to argue."

"Well, I finished packing a lot of your stuff. We just need to move it downstairs," Tyler explained and I nodded. We worked in silence for about fifteen minutes as we packed the rest of my stuff.

"Come on, we can ask my Uncle where to put these," I informed him as we both grabbed a box. "Uncle Nik?"

"In here, love," I followed the sound of his voice, halting in surprise. Elena was tied up to a chair.

"Elena?" Tyler asked in surprise, setting the box down as he rushed forward.

"Tyler!" Elena exclaimed. "Help me."

"He can't." Nik quickly halted Tyler's steps. Tyler froze, looking between the two. "He needs to go fetch me more empty blood bags. About three liters worth, please, Tyler."

"Tyler, please..get Stefan," Elena begged and Tyler looked conflicted. He didn't know if he should keep up his act of being sired or not.

"Nik, this isn't right," I said, my eyes wide as I took in the scene.

"No, Tyler, get the bags," Nik ordered calmly, tipping his head ever so slightly as he watched Tyler closely. When he noticed Tyler stepping forward, he used his speed to get in front of him. "Forget the girl and get the bags. Now."
