Annabelle
I DIDN'T BOTHER knocking, instead, I barged in. I assumed Jenna wasn't home, and thankfully she wasn't. "Jeremy," I called out, making my way into his kitchen. He and Bonnie were standing in the middle, having an angry stare-off. Jeremy's shirt was covered in blood and he had a few cuts littering his face. Angerily, I swallowed hard. "Am I interrupting something?"
"No," Bonnie said after a moment of silence, turning to shoot me a smile. "I was just leaving." Bonnie shot Jeremy one more look before leaving out the backdoor.
"I thought you were avoiding me," Jeremy said, pressing a damp paper towel to his face.
"Not avoiding you," I shrugged, dragging my finger across his kitchen counter as I rounded it, making my way closer to him. I leaned against the counter, propelling my body up onto it. "Just wasn't ready to make plans."
"That's why you came through," Jeremy said, reaching into a nearby cabinet and pulling out an antiseptic wipe, along with a bandaid.
"Yeah, I came because you're a fucking idiot," I said, glaring at him. He looked surprised at the vile words coming out of my mouth. "Now give me that wipe and come here."
Jeremy huffed, handing me a small packet with the wipe in it. He moved closer, coming to stand between my legs as I gently grabbed his chin, tilting his head up. "I've never heard you curse. You must be pretty mad at me then, huh?"
"Furious," I replied, ripping open the packet and setting it aside. I didn't warn him before rubbing his wound with the alcohol. He hissed at the sudden pain, though I didn't make any move to apologize. "I want you to tell me the truth."
"Of course," Jeremy tried to nod but I held his chin harder so he couldn't move.
"Don't move," I scowled at him and he instantly stopped. The wipe cleared away some of the dried blood, but there was another cut that was causing slow trickles of blood to trail down his face. "Get me another wipe."
He did as he was told, stepping away and reaching back into the cabinet before pulling out a second one. He passed it to me, returning back to his previous position. "Are you going to scold me? Cause I really don't feel like listening to that."
"Yeah, well, while I'm scolding you, I'm also going to clean your wounds so you can't leave," I snapped, anger pulsing through me. "I mean, how reckless could you be? Katherine is dangerous and ruthless."
"I had my ring on," Jeremy told me, shooting me a glare as I pressed the wipe onto his wound without warning, once again.
"That doesn't make it better," I said. "I'm an Original vampire, does it make it okay if I go around throwing myself in front of a wooden stake because I can't die from it?"
"That's different," Jeremy responded. "And you know it."
"Is it different?" I retorted, setting the blood-tinted wipes aside. I stared into his eyes, suddenly very aware of his hands on either side of my thighs, leaning closer to me. My cheeks flushed and I could only hope he took it as a sign of anger. "You know, I dropped my plans to come take care of your ass. I can't even leave for one night before you're all throwing yourself at danger."
