Annabelle
AFTER I POUTED for a while, I ended up falling asleep with my head lying on the bar. Stefan had gone off to get Damon to stop following our trail. Of course, that was after Nik threatened to do it himself. Therefore, we now had to stay with Ray while we waited for Stefan.
Eventually, Stefan returned and we set out early the next morning for a small hike in the woods. After quite a lot of walking, I complained about my legs being tired long enough that Nik just gave me a piggyback, both boys being beyond annoyed. "I hate the woods and all the bugs," I grumbled as I slapped my arm, feeling a nat land on it.
"I assure you, love, the bugs are the least of your concerns out here," Nik chuckled, which failed to reassure me.
"You know what would make it even better?"
"You to stop talking," Stefan said with a roll of his eyes and I whipped around to look at him.
"Can it, Stefan. Just because you're mad because I 'betrayed' you," I used my fingers as quotes around the word betrayed, "doesn't give you the right to talk. Besides, aren't you struggling over there with Ray on your back?" I grinned as he looked even more annoyed, if that was possible.
"I'm fine," Stefan said, his tone emotionless.
"You sure about that?" Nik asked, joining in on my teasing. "You know, we've been walking for quite some time now. If you need some water or a little sit-down." Nik adjusted me on his back, jumping every so slightly so I wouldn't slip down. It reminded me of when Kol used to give me piggybacks all the time. It didn't matter if I was five or five hundred years old, it was sort of our thing.
"You know, I get that we're stuck together, but if we could maybe just skip the chitchat, it'd be great," Stefan explained.
"So much brooding," Nik replied as I laid my head against his shoulder. Stefan was honestly lucky to see Nik this...affectionate. Though he claimed to never care for anyone and 'was not soft,' he was with me seeing as he practically helped Dad raise me. "Your self-loathing is suffocating you, my friend."
"Maybe it's 'cause I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves," Stefan shot back. "Only been at it all summer."
"Well, thanks to our pal Ray, we found ourselves a pack. There," Nik said, stopping suddenly as we all looked through the three to see a clearing. It was a large pack, consisting of at least ten different people. They were all working together, setting up camp, and moving bins. They were all instantly on their feet once they saw us.
A tense look appeared on all their faces, their chatter coming to a halt. Nik released my legs, allowing me to drop down, as he wanted to seem all tough, and having a girl on your back wasn't exactly tough-looking.
Stefan dropped Ray on the ground and one lady immediately rushed to his side. "Ray! Oh, my God. What's going on?" Another man, with dirty blonde hair, gently set his hand on the girl's back before looking up at us. "Who are you?"
