"UGH, CARE, REMAIN calm but my uncles are here," I said as we walked into the Grill. "Specifically, the one you fancy."

"I do not fancy Klaus," Caroline weakly protested, most likely knowing that Nik was listening in. "And nobody says fancy anymore."

"I do," I shrugged, tucking my hands into my jacket pockets.

"You also fancy Jere-"

"Caroline," I quickly shut her up before my uncle could hear. "Don't say his name."

"Sorry," Caroline gave me a sheepish smile. "But it makes sense that you use the word fancy if you are into him, the boy who has had way too many different phases."

"Yeah, I wish I could have seen the emo phase," I snorted, laughing as we walked towards my uncles.

"Caroline," Nik called out her name as we passed.

"Oh. It's you," Caroline said as she crossed her arms. I rolled my eyes at the pair. It was clear how much Nik fancied Caroline, and despite her protests, I knew she liked him, too.

"Join us for a drink?" Nik asked, raising his glass in an offering.

"I will," I said cheerfully, reaching for Kol's drink but he held it away from me, slapping my hand.

"Absolutely not. Elijah will stake me if he finds out I'm letting you drink again," Kol told me, though his usual smirk was still on his face.

I scowled up at him as Caroline said, "Mm, I'd rather die of thirst, but thanks." I began laughing as she walked away.

"She told you," I teased, taking note of how he followed her with her eyes.

"Isn't she stunning?" Nik asked, leaning closer to Kol.

"She certainly looks good walking away from you," Kol nodded. This was one of the only things the two seemed to agree on.

"Ew, stop it. That's my best friend," I said with a glare. "Though I wouldn't be mad if she became family. It might be weird having her as an aunt though."

"I'll take that as a challenge." Nik finished his drink, setting it on the bar counter as he began to trail after my blond friend.

"That's going to be interesting," I commented, taking my uncle's seat at the bar. I turned, looking for the bartender. When the bartender met my eyes, I compelled him before he could leave. "Get me a lemonade. Free of charge, please."

"I'm surprised you're not drinking coffee. From what I hear from Nik, you are addicted to it," Kol said, his eyes darting around the room, most likely looking for a woman to pick up.

"I'm not addicted to it," I protest, thanking the bartender as he passes me the drink. "I just like it. A lot."

"Right," Kol laughed. "And I'm not addicted to killing people."
