Annabelle
AFTER OUR LITTLE snack, it was nearing night time so I convinced Nik to get us a hotel room, claiming I wanted to sleep. Much to his demise, he agreed.
He made sure all the windows and doors were locked before he and Bekah left, claiming to go off somewhere but I paid no mind to them.
However, I didn't get much sleep before I was shaken awake by my uncle. "What?" I asked, keeping my eyes shut.
"Come on, love, up and at it. We're leaving," Nik informed me. I sighed heavily, cracking one eye open.
"It's been, what, two hours since you let me go to sleep?" I rubbed my eyes as I pushed myself to an upright position.
"Yes, well, I think you'll much enjoy where we're going," Nik said, rushing me to get up and grab my small backpack of stuff. "You can sleep in the truck."
"Truck?" I furrowed my eyebrows but followed him outside where there was a large moving truck. He motioned me to follow him to the back, where he pushed the large trunk open. My mouth fell agape as I took in the coffins, as well as an unconscious Stefan, inside.
I pulled myself up and into the truck, watching as Nik climbed in behind me. He pulled the trunk shut, making me scramble for the phone I had gotten back a few hours ago--in case anything happened while he was away--and once I found it, I clicked on the flashlight. "I don't like the dark."
"Sorry, love." Nik didn't look apologetic at all.
"And how can you expect me to sleep next to my dead uncles," I said, crossing my arms as I glared at him. With the light glow of my flashlight, I watched him sit down across from Stefan.
"I hate to break it to you, but we've all been dead for many centuries now and you've never seemed to mind when you were climbing into your father's bed as a kid, or crawling into my lap while I was painting," Nik chuckled. "Hell, you didn't even seem to mind when Kol came back drenched in blood, claiming you just wanted to cuddle with him."
My cheeks flushed at the memories. "You know what I meant and I was a kid, I barely even knew of vampires." Nik didn't reply as I shuffled forward, crouching in front of Stefan. I felt the light hum of the truck's engine start, and a slight jerk as it drove off. "What did you do to him?"
"Nothing, he is merely sleeping," Nik replied, legs spread out in front of him as he watched me closely.
"You and I both know that's a lie," I said as he began to get on my nerves. I huffed, moving to sit beside my uncle as I realized Stefan wasn't truly hurt. "Why are we leaving anyway."
"Well, you dear friend Stefan over there is hiding something. And Gloria's dead." I decided not to comment on the part of Stefan hiding something, not wanting to get caught in my lie.
