You woke up feeling groggy, the familiar weight of a cold settling heavily on your chest. The sun peeked through the curtains, but instead of feeling its warmth, you pulled the covers tighter around you, trying to ward off the chill. The muffled sounds of the world outside felt distant and uninviting, but you knew you couldn't hide from the day forever.

Just as you were contemplating the merits of calling in sick to life, your phone buzzed on the nightstand. You reached over, squinting at the screen, and saw Rafe's name light up. A small smile crept onto your face, but it quickly faded as a wave of dizziness hit you. You hesitated before answering, unsure if you should bother him with your sniffles.

"Hey, are you there?" Rafe's voice came through, full of concern.

"Yeah, I'm here," you replied, your voice barely a whisper.

"What's wrong?" he asked, the worry evident in his tone. "You sound off."

"I'm just... a bit under the weather," you admitted, trying to keep your voice steady. "It's nothing serious."

"Nothing serious, huh? Sounds like a good excuse for me to come over and check on you," he said, determination in his voice.

Before you could protest, you heard the sound of your front door opening. Rafe had a way of knowing when you needed him, and right now, he was going to take care of you, whether you liked it or not.

A few minutes later, Rafe appeared in your room, a cheerful grin plastered on his face, his messy hair falling into his eyes. He was wearing a cozy hoodie that made him look even more comforting. "I brought supplies," he announced, holding up a small grocery bag like it was a trophy.

You couldn't help but laugh, even if it sent you into a coughing fit. "You really didn't have to come all this way."

He shrugged, dismissing your concern. "Of course I did! You're sick. I can't just leave you here all alone. Now, what do you need? Soup? Tea? Movies?"

You shook your head, smiling despite yourself. "Honestly, just some company would be nice."

"Company it is!" he said, flopping down on the bed next to you. He immediately rummaged through the bag and pulled out a steaming cup of herbal tea. "Here, this will help."

You took the cup from him, your fingers brushing against his, and you felt a warmth spread through you—much better than the tea itself. "Thank you, Rafe."

He settled back against the headboard, glancing at you with an amused expression. "You look terrible, by the way."

You rolled your eyes playfully, taking a sip of tea. "Thanks for the compliment."

He chuckled, a soft sound that made your heart flutter. "I'm just kidding. But really, you should rest. I'll keep you entertained while you do."

As you leaned against the pillows, Rafe switched on the TV, and a familiar movie began to play. You felt your eyes fluttering, the warmth of the tea and his presence making it hard to stay awake.

"Hey, stay with me," Rafe said, nudging your shoulder gently. "I didn't come here just to watch the movie without you."

"Sorry, it's just... really cozy," you mumbled, your eyelids growing heavier.

Rafe grinned. "That's the goal. You need to rest and get better. I'll make sure you don't miss anything important."

And with that, you felt yourself relax even more, comforted by his presence. You could hear his voice talking softly about the movie, but soon enough, your eyes fluttered closed, lulled into a peaceful sleep.

When you woke up again, you felt warmer, the sickness seeming a bit lighter. Rafe was still next to you, his head leaning back against the wall, eyes closed, and you couldn't help but smile at how sweet he looked while he slept.

The moment didn't last long, though, as he stirred, blinking awake to find you watching him. "Hey, look who's finally awake!" he said, a big grin spreading across his face.

"Did I miss anything?" you asked, stretching a little.

He shook his head. "Not at all. Just me being a good boyfriend and watching your favorite movie." He leaned closer, his smile softening. "How are you feeling?"

"Better, thanks to you," you said, warmth blooming in your chest. "You really didn't have to come over, but I'm glad you did."

"Anytime," he replied, his eyes shining with sincerity. "I'll always be here to take care of you, especially when you need it most."

In that moment, you realized how lucky you were to have someone like Rafe in your life. Even when you were sick, he made everything feel okay, and you knew that with him by your side, you could get through anything.
