You and Rafe were sitting on the beach, the sun setting in a blaze of orange and pink, casting a warm glow over everything. It was one of those perfect Outer Banks evenings that made you feel like you were in a dream. Rafe had his arm draped casually around your shoulders, pulling you close as you watched the waves roll in.

"I love this time of day," you said, leaning into him. "Everything feels so... peaceful."

Rafe chuckled softly. "Peaceful? You must be joking. The waves are way too loud. But I guess I can deal with it if it means being here with you."

You laughed, playfully nudging him with your shoulder. "You always have to be a little dramatic, don't you?"

"Only when it comes to you," he replied, his tone turning serious as he looked into your eyes. "You're the most important thing in my life."

Feeling your cheeks heat up, you smiled shyly. "You really mean that?"

"Of course," he said, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. "I wouldn't say it if I didn't. You make everything better, and I want you to know that. Promise me you'll always remember that."

You nodded, feeling a surge of affection for him. "I promise."

Just then, you spotted Topper and Kelce approaching, their laughter echoing across the sand. Rafe immediately tensed, his protective instincts kicking in as he noticed the teasing glances they exchanged.

"Hey, lovebirds!" Topper called out, smirking. "What are you two doing, planning your wedding?"

You rolled your eyes, but Rafe shot him a warning glare. "Back off, Topper."

Kelce laughed, joining in on the teasing. "Yeah, we don't need to hear about their mushy stuff. We're trying to enjoy our evening here!"

Rafe's arm tightened around you as he glared at his friends. "You guys are ridiculous. Can't you see we're having a moment?"

"Relax, man. We're just messing with you," Topper said, holding up his hands in mock surrender.

You felt a rush of warmth from Rafe's protectiveness, and you couldn't help but smile. "It's okay, Rafe. They're just joking around."

Rafe looked down at you, his expression softening. "I know, but I don't like it when they tease you. You deserve to be treated like a queen."

You felt your heart flutter at his words. "You treat me like a queen every day."

"Good," he said, leaning in closer. "That's how it should be."

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky turning dark with stars beginning to twinkle above, Rafe leaned in and pressed his lips against yours. It was soft and sweet, and you melted into the kiss.

When you pulled back, Rafe smirked, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "See? That's how it's done."

You giggled, feeling light and happy. "Yeah, but I think I'll have to remind you of that every day."

"I wouldn't have it any other way," he replied, pulling you closer as you both sat back to enjoy the beautiful night together.

As the stars shone above, you knew that no matter what, Rafe would always be there to protect you, and that made every moment feel like a promise of love.
