The Cameron estate was buzzing with energy, the air thick with excitement as the New Year's Eve party kicked into full swing. Rafe, ever the life of the party, had insisted on hosting this year, transforming his family's mansion into the perfect celebration spot. Twinkling lights were strung up along the hedges, a roaring fire pit warmed the backyard, and the living room was practically pulsating with music and laughter. The planning had taken weeks, and you'd been by Rafe's side every step of the way, tweaking every detail to make the night unforgettable.

Now, standing in the middle of the lively chaos, you couldn't help but smile. The house was filled with a mix of people—Rafe's closest friends like Topper and Kelce, your friends like Sarah and Kie, and other Kooks who'd come to enjoy the glitz of the night. The bar was fully stocked, the hors d'oeuvres seemed never-ending, and a photo booth had been set up in the corner with an array of silly props, drawing in a line of guests eager to capture memories.

Rafe appeared beside you, slipping his arm around your waist as if he'd sensed you needed him. He looked effortlessly handsome in a black button-down, sleeves rolled up to his elbows, his ever-present smirk adding to his charm.

"You good, love?" he asked, leaning in so you could hear him over the upbeat music blasting from the speakers.

"Yeah, just taking it all in," you said, glancing up at him.

He grinned, looking around at the packed house. "We really nailed it, didn't we?"

You chuckled. "You mean I nailed it, and you just took all the credit."

Rafe laughed, leaning down to kiss your temple. "Whatever helps you sleep at night, love."

The party unfolded like a dream. Inside, Topper had taken over DJ duties, much to everyone's delight—or annoyance, depending on the song. Sarah and Kie were near the fireplace, laughing and swapping stories with a group of your mutual friends. Outside, a group had gathered around the fire pit, sipping on champagne and stealing glances at the starry sky.

You found yourself moving between groups, catching up with everyone and making sure they were having a good time. Every so often, Rafe would come find you, slipping an arm around your waist or pressing a kiss to your cheek, as if to remind you that you were his favorite part of the night.

At one point, you were standing by the kitchen counter with Sarah and Kie, nursing a glass of wine.

"Rafe's really outdone himself," Sarah said, gesturing around the packed house.

"Yeah, he's showing off," you replied, watching him animatedly tell a story to Kelce by the bar. "But he's having fun, so I'll allow it."

Kie laughed. "Let's just hope he doesn't decide to top this next year. The guy's got a competitive streak."

You all laughed, clinking your glasses together before getting pulled back into the flow of the party.

As the clock ticked closer to midnight, you found yourself in the backyard by the fire pit, taking a much-needed breather. The cool night air was a welcome relief from the heat of the crowded house, and the quiet crackle of the fire was soothing.

"There you are," Rafe's voice came from behind you. He appeared with two glasses of champagne, handing one to you before sitting down beside you.

"Needed a little break," you admitted, leaning into his side.

He draped an arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer. "Understandable. It's a lot in there."

You nodded, taking a sip of your drink. "You've been on host duty all night. You okay?"

"Better now," he said, kissing the top of your head. "But you're not skipping out on the countdown, just so you know."

You smiled. "Wouldn't dream of it."

As midnight approached, everyone gathered in the living room, drinks in hand and voices loud with anticipation. Rafe stayed glued to your side, his hand resting on the small of your back as the countdown began.

"Ten... nine... eight..."

Rafe leaned down, his lips brushing against your ear. "You're my favorite part of this year, you know that?"

Your heart swelled at his words, and you looked up at him with a soft smile.

"Seven... six... five..."

"Rafe Cameron, you're a total sap," you teased, but your voice was warm, affectionate.

"Four... three... two... one! Happy New Year!"

The room erupted in cheers, champagne bottles popping and confetti flying. Rafe didn't hesitate, pulling you into a deep kiss as the rest of the world seemed to fade away.

When you finally pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours, a playful smirk on his lips. "Here's to another year of me being absolutely crazy about you."

You laughed, swatting his chest lightly. "And here's to you driving me insane in the best way possible."

The party continued into the early hours of the morning, but as the crowd thinned out, it was just you and Rafe left in the living room. You were curled up on the couch together, the remnants of the party scattered around you.

"Think we pulled it off?" Rafe asked, his arm around your shoulders as you leaned against him.

"Definitely," you replied. "But maybe next year we keep it a little smaller?"

He chuckled, brushing a strand of hair out of your face. "Deal. But only if I still get to kiss you at midnight."

You smiled, leaning in to kiss him softly. "Always, my love."

With the first moments of the new year unfolding, you felt nothing but excitement for the adventures ahead—with Rafe by your side.
