A/N: Sorry for the spam post of these. I'm posting so much drafts that I had saved these past two weeks. But I hope you guys enjoy
The steady rhythm of rain drummed against the roof of your house, a soft hum filling the cozy space. You and Rafe were holed up in your living room, the kind of lazy afternoon where time seemed to slow down. Your parents were away for the weekend, leaving you and Rafe to enjoy the rare peace and quiet without interruptions.
Rafe had sprawled out on the floor, his legs stretched in front of him as he leaned against the couch. You sat cross-legged beside him, flipping through a board game you'd dragged out of the closet.
"What about this one?" you asked, holding up the colorful box.
Rafe glanced at it, eyebrows raised. "Candy Land? Really?"
You smirked. "What? Afraid I'll beat you?"
"Please," he scoffed, sitting up straighter. "Like I'd let you win."
"Oh, so now you're competitive?" you teased, shaking the box.
"I'm always competitive," he replied, grabbing the box from your hands. "Fine. Set it up. I'll destroy you in Candy Land."
You bit back a laugh, watching as he eagerly opened the box and started arranging the pieces. His determination over such a simple game was endearing—and slightly ridiculous.
"Alright, Mr. Tough Guy," you said, leaning forward to place the game pieces on the board. "Let's see what you've got."
The game started off tame, but it didn't take long for the playful banter to kick in.
"Are you serious right now?" Rafe groaned as his piece landed on a spot that sent him back several spaces.
You grinned, moving your piece forward. "Guess you're not as good at this as you thought."
"Don't get cocky," he warned, narrowing his eyes.
"Why? Worried I'll win?"
"Worried you'll get annoying," he shot back, though the smirk on his face betrayed his words.
The game continued, filled with laughter, dramatic sighs from Rafe every time you pulled ahead, and your own triumphant cheers when you landed on a good spot. By the time you reached the final stretch of the board, Rafe was practically pacing.
"This game is rigged," he muttered as you drew the winning card.
"Or maybe you're just bad at it," you teased, leaning back against the couch.
He glared at you playfully before lunging forward and tackling you onto the cushions.
"Rafe!" you squealed, laughing as he pinned you down.
"Take it back," he demanded, grinning down at you.
"Never," you said, giggling as you tried to wriggle free.
He tickled your sides, making you burst into uncontrollable laughter. "Take it back!"
"Okay, okay!" you gasped between laughs. "You're the Candy Land king!"
"That's what I thought," he said, finally letting up.
You caught your breath, still smiling as you looked up at him. "You're such a sore loser."
"And you're insufferable when you win," he replied, though his tone was soft as he leaned down to kiss your forehead.
The rain outside had eased into a gentle drizzle, the gray skies casting a calm glow over the room. Rafe shifted to lie beside you, pulling you close as the two of you settled into the couch cushions.
"Thanks for hanging out with me," you said after a moment, your voice quiet.
He glanced down at you, a small smile playing on his lips. "You kidding? I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
You rested your head against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. "Even if I beat you at every game we play?"
"Even then," he said, wrapping an arm around you. "But don't get used to it. Next time, I'm winning."
"Keep dreaming, Cameron," you teased, closing your eyes.
And with the rain softly falling outside and Rafe's warmth beside you, it felt like the perfect kind of day—the kind where nothing else mattered but the two of you.
