The night air was warm as you walked down the familiar path leading to Tannyhill. It had been a few days since you last saw Rafe, but you'd both been busy, caught up in the whirlwind of your separate lives. Tonight, though, he'd made time for you.

You reached the door and knocked, a slight smile forming as you waited. It didn't take long before Rafe appeared, his usual smirk spread across his face as he opened the door.

"Well, well, look who decided to show up," he teased, pulling you into his arms almost immediately.

You laughed, feeling the tension from the past few days melt away the moment he wrapped his arms around you. "You know you missed me," you teased, tilting your head back to look up at him.

Rafe chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. "I always miss you. You're my favorite person, after all."

"Your only favorite person," you added, raising an eyebrow with a playful grin.

"Yeah, yeah," he grinned, rolling his eyes as he pulled you inside. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves."

As soon as you stepped into the house, you felt that familiar comfort settle in your chest. Being with Rafe felt like home, no matter how chaotic his life might be. He led you to the living room, his hand resting casually on your back as you both sat down.

"So, what's been going on with you? You've been keeping busy?" you asked, looking at him curiously.

He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, work stuff, dad stuff, the usual. You know how it is."

You frowned, noticing the way his expression darkened slightly. "Rafe..."

"I'm fine," he said quickly, trying to brush it off. "It's just... the usual tension with my dad. I've been dealing with a lot of it."

You reached for his hand, squeezing it gently. "You don't have to pretend around me, you know? I'm here, Rafe. Always."

He met your eyes, and for a moment, there was an unspoken understanding between you. The kind that went beyond words. He didn't need to explain everything for you to know what he was feeling.

"I know," he murmured, his thumb brushing over your knuckles. "I don't always know how to deal with it. It's just... sometimes it feels like I'm stuck, you know?"

You leaned into him, resting your head on his shoulder. "I get it. But you're not alone in this, Rafe. You've got me, and I'll always have your back, no matter what."

He let out a breath, his body relaxing as he turned to kiss the top of your head. "I don't deserve you, you know that?"

You pulled back just enough to look him in the eye, your fingers gently cupping his jaw. "You do deserve me. Don't ever think you don't."

Rafe gave you a soft smile, his eyes shining with sincerity. "Sometimes I feel like I don't. Like I'm not good enough for someone like you."

"Stop," you said, your voice firm but gentle. "You're more than enough for me. I'm with you because I want to be, Rafe. And I'm not going anywhere."

He swallowed, his emotions threatening to overwhelm him for a brief second. "I don't say it enough, but I'm really grateful for you. You make everything easier, even when it's hard."

You smiled, leaning in to kiss him softly. "You don't need to say it. I already know."

The kiss lingered for a moment, the world outside of the two of you fading into the background. It was just you and Rafe, finding comfort in each other after the chaos of life.

After a while, Rafe pulled back slightly, his hand still resting on your waist. "So, what about you? What have you been up to? I feel like I haven't even gotten the chance to catch up."

You chuckled, shrugging playfully. "Nothing too exciting, just school and life. But I missed you, Rafe. A lot."

"I missed you too," he said, his voice soft and sincere. "I know we're both busy, but I don't ever want you to feel like you're not important to me."

You leaned into him once more, the connection between you stronger than ever. "I know I'm important to you. You don't have to say it for me to feel it."

Rafe's smile was small but genuine as he kissed your forehead again. "I guess I'll have to remind you more often then."

"Please do," you teased, pulling him closer for another kiss.

You both settled into a comfortable silence after that, simply enjoying each other's presence. No more words were needed. It was in moments like these that you knew your bond was unbreakable. The kind of love that didn't need explanations, just trust and the quiet certainty that no matter what happened, you'd always have each other.
