It was a perfect summer evening, and the sky was painted in deep shades of navy and indigo as the stars began to twinkle above. Rafe had planned a special night for you both, wanting to take advantage of the clear skies and warm weather. You were sprawled out on a blanket in his backyard, surrounded by fairy lights that illuminated the space with a soft glow.

"Are you ready for this?" Rafe asked, his excitement contagious as he set up a small telescope nearby. "We're going to find all the best constellations tonight!"

You giggled, nodding eagerly. "Absolutely! I can't wait to see them all!" You loved nights like this, where it was just the two of you, free from distractions and the chaos of the world.

As Rafe set up the telescope, you leaned back on the blanket, resting your head on your arms, and gazed up at the stars. "It's so beautiful out here," you said, feeling completely relaxed. The soft sound of crickets filled the air, and a gentle breeze brushed against your skin.

"Right?" Rafe replied, sitting beside you. "There's something magical about stargazing. It always makes me feel small in the best way." He laid back, mirroring your position, and you could see the admiration in his blue eyes as they reflected the starlight.

He turned to you, a playful grin spreading across his face. "Okay, how about we try to find the Big Dipper first? It should be over there." He pointed towards a cluster of stars. "I'll show you how to use the telescope."

You sat up, your heart fluttering with excitement as Rafe guided you through the process. "Just look through here and adjust the knobs until you see the stars clearly," he instructed, his hands brushing against yours as he demonstrated.

You looked through the telescope, your breath hitching as you spotted the Big Dipper. "Wow, this is amazing!" you exclaimed, feeling a sense of wonder. "I never knew it could look like this up close."

Rafe leaned closer, resting his chin on your shoulder as he looked through the telescope too. "It's even better in person," he whispered, and you felt a warm blush spread across your cheeks at the closeness.

As the two of you took turns peering through the telescope, Rafe began sharing fun facts about the constellations and stars, his passion evident in his animated explanations. You listened intently, captivated not just by the night sky but by the way he lit up when talking about things he loved.

After a while, you found yourself feeling a bit sleepy. The combination of the soothing sounds of the night and Rafe's warm presence was making it hard to stay awake. You yawned, stretching out on the blanket again, trying to fight off the drowsiness.

"Hey, are you getting tired?" Rafe asked, glancing at you with a mix of concern and affection.

"A little," you admitted, blinking slowly. "But I'm having so much fun!"

Rafe smiled, leaning down to kiss your forehead softly. "You don't have to pretend. It's okay to take a break." He propped himself up on one elbow, looking down at you with those familiar blue eyes that made your heart flutter.

"Maybe we can just lay here for a bit?" you suggested, hoping for a few more moments of closeness.

"Absolutely," he agreed, settling beside you. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders, pulling you in closer. The warmth of his body made you feel safe and comfortable, and you sighed contentedly.

As you lay together, you began pointing out different constellations, your voice soft and sleepy. "Look, there's Orion!" you said, your finger tracing the stars in the sky.

"Yeah, and over there is Cassiopeia!" Rafe added, his voice low and soothing. He brushed his fingers through your hair, the gentle motion calming you further.

You closed your eyes for a moment, just enjoying the tranquility of the night and the feeling of being in Rafe's arms. You could hear his heartbeat, steady and reassuring, as you nestled deeper against him.

"Rafe?" you murmured sleepily, your voice barely above a whisper.

"Yeah?" he replied, his tone soft and attentive.

"Can we just stay like this forever?"

He chuckled softly, the sound rumbling in his chest. "As long as you want, my love. I could stay here all night."

You smiled, feeling warmth spread through you at his words. After a few moments, you felt your eyelids growing heavier, lulled by the peacefulness of the night and Rafe's gentle presence.

"Just close your eyes," he encouraged, his voice soothing. "I'll wake you up if anything cool happens."

You nodded, feeling a sense of security wash over you. You allowed yourself to drift off, knowing that Rafe was right there beside you, ready to share every moment.

Not long after, you felt a light jolt as Rafe gently shook you awake. "Y/N, wake up! You have to see this!"

You blinked awake, groggy but curious. "What is it?"

"Look at the shooting star!" he exclaimed, pointing up at the sky.

Your heart raced as you sat up, looking where he directed. You caught a glimpse of a bright streak across the sky, and your eyes widened in awe. "Wow! That was amazing!"

Rafe laughed, clearly delighted. "Told you it would be worth waking you up for!"

You grinned, feeling the remnants of sleep fade as the magic of the moment took over. You turned to him, your heart full. "Thanks for sharing this with me, Rafe. I love it."

"I love you," he said softly, leaning in for a sweet kiss. "Let's keep watching for more shooting stars, okay?"

You nodded, feeling grateful for this perfect night and the special connection you shared. As you both settled back onto the blanket, wrapped in each other's arms, the starry sky felt like a beautiful promise of many more adventures to come.
