It's been one of those days – the kind that never seems to end, filled with stress from every direction. Every little thing seems to have gone wrong, leaving you mentally and emotionally exhausted. The last thing you want is to be around anyone or explain to anyone why you're feeling this way.

Just as you're dragging yourself up the stairs to your apartment, your phone buzzes. It's a message from Rafe.

My Love: " Come over. I miss you. Want to see my girl."

You stop in the stairwell, smiling a little in spite of your rough day. Rafe seems to have an uncanny way of knowing when you need him most. After a moment's hesitation, you text him back, "On my way."

You quickly change into something more comfortable, then grab your keys and head out. A few minutes later, you're knocking on his door, already feeling a bit better at the thought of seeing him.

When Rafe opens the door, his smile fades as he sees the look on your face, concern immediately replacing his usual grin. "Hey... What's wrong, babe?" he asks softly, reaching for your hand and pulling you inside without hesitation.

You just shake your head, not even sure where to start. "I don't know, it's just... everything," you manage to say, your voice a bit shaky. "I'm so tired."

He doesn't press you for details. Instead, he just pulls you into his arms, wrapping you in a warm hug that's as steadying as it is comforting. You bury your face in his chest, letting out a deep sigh as he holds you tightly, gently rubbing your back. The scent of his cologne and the warmth of his body are like a balm, slowly easing away the day's anxieties.

"Let's go upstairs, okay?" he murmurs, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. "You can relax, put on something comfortable. I'll take care of everything."

You nod, following him up to his room. Once inside, he opens his dresser and pulls out one of his favorite hoodies – the oversized one that's so soft and warm – along with a pair of sweatpants. He hands them to you with a soft smile. "Here, go get changed. You'll feel better."

You duck into the bathroom to change, and the second you pull on his clothes, you already start to feel a bit more at ease. They smell like him, like safety and home, and the oversized hoodie wraps around you like a gentle hug. When you step back into his room, he's waiting with open arms.

Without saying a word, you walk over to him, and he pulls you onto the bed, tugging the blanket over both of you as he holds you close. He props himself up on one elbow so he can look down at you, his eyes soft and filled with concern. "Want to tell me what happened today?" he asks, his voice low and soothing.

You sigh, trying to put the day's events into words. "It was just... one of those days. Everything went wrong. Classes, work, even my friends were just... off." You hesitate, glancing away. "I feel like I'm just trying to keep up with everything, like I'm never good enough."

Rafe's eyes darken slightly, his expression turning serious. "Hey, don't talk like that. You're doing amazing. You don't have to be perfect every day." He reaches over, brushing a stray hair from your face, his thumb lingering on your cheek. "You're way too hard on yourself, you know that?"

You let out a shaky breath, looking up at him. "It just feels like... like I'm always one step behind. Like everyone else has it together, and I'm just... barely hanging on."

Rafe pulls you even closer, his voice filled with gentle conviction. "That's not true, babe. You're one of the strongest people I know. And you don't have to prove anything to anyone – not to your friends, not to me. I already know how incredible you are."

A lump forms in your throat, and you feel a tear slip down your cheek. Rafe immediately wipes it away, his gaze softening even more. "You're my girl, okay? I'm always going to be here, no matter what." His fingers trace light, comforting patterns on your back, soothing you with each touch.

You bury your face in his shoulder, letting out a quiet sigh as you relax against him. "Thank you," you whisper, feeling some of the day's weight finally start to lift.

He doesn't respond with words; instead, he just wraps his arms around you tighter, holding you close as he starts to run his fingers through your hair. The gentle, repetitive motion is so soothing, and you can feel yourself begin to truly unwind for the first time all day. Rafe's hand moves from your hair to your back, massaging away the tension in your shoulders with slow, deliberate strokes.

After a while, he glances over at the bedside table and reaches for something. You look over, curious, and see him pull out a small box of chocolates and a lavender-scented candle. He lights the candle and places it on the table, the soft, calming scent filling the room.

"I keep these for days like this," he says with a small smile, holding out the box of chocolates to you. "Figured you could use them."

You smile through your tears, feeling a warmth spread through you. "You always know what I need."

He chuckles, unwrapping one of the chocolates and holding it up to your lips. "Always. Now, take a bite. We're not moving from this spot until you feel like yourself again."

You take the chocolate, savoring the sweetness as he continues to stroke your hair, his other arm wrapped around you protectively. The combination of the candle, his touch, and the warmth of the bed start to lull you into a state of peace, the stress of the day melting away little by little.

After a while, Rafe starts to hum softly, a tune that's familiar and comforting. His voice is low and soothing, each note wrapping around you like a warm blanket. You close your eyes, letting the sound wash over you as you snuggle closer to him.

"Feel better?" he asks quietly, his fingers still threading through your hair.

You nod, nuzzling into his shoulder. "Yeah. A lot better. Thanks, Rafe."

He leans down, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead. "I'm always here for you, okay? No matter what. You don't ever have to face anything alone."

You smile, your heart swelling with gratitude and love for him. In his arms, with his steady presence beside you, the world doesn't feel quite as overwhelming. You know that, as long as Rafe's by your side, you'll be able to handle anything.

The exhaustion finally starts to take over, your eyelids growing heavy. Just as you're drifting off to sleep, you hear Rafe's soft whisper, his words full of affection.

"Goodnight, beautiful. I've got you."

And with that, you let yourself sink into a peaceful sleep, feeling more loved and more at home than you ever have before.
