It was one of those rare moments where everything felt light. The air was warm, the sun hanging lazily in the sky, and the sound of the ocean filled the air as you walked along the pier with Rafe, Topper, and Kelce. You couldn't help but feel like you were in one of those postcard moments, even if the people you were with were far from ordinary.

Rafe had always been... intense. But when he was with you, there were moments when the weight of his world seemed to lighten, if only for a short time. And today, you were determined to make the most of it.

You skipped ahead of the group, bouncing on your feet like a child. "Come on, guys! Race you to the ice cream stand!" You didn't wait for an answer. You were already running, laughing like you hadn't a care in the world.

Rafe's voice echoed behind you, his tone a mix of exasperation and amusement. "Love, you're impossible," he called out.

You looked back over your shoulder, grinning like a maniac. "Catch me if you can, pretty boy!" you teased, dodging between people on the crowded pier.

Topper and Kelce, trailing behind, exchanged a look before starting to run as well, though they were no match for your speed. They didn't even bother trying to catch up—they knew that in this game, you always won.

By the time you reached the ice cream stand, you were breathless, practically leaning on the counter to catch your breath. "See? I told you I'd win," you said, your voice practically singing with joy.

Rafe jogged up to you, eyes narrowed, but there was that familiar mischievous glint in them. "You know, love," he said, leaning on the counter beside you, "I think you might be a little too much for me to handle."

You beamed, leaning against him. "Oh, come on, you love it. Admit it. Who else could keep up with your level of crazy?"

Topper and Kelce arrived a moment later, both panting slightly. Kelce, with his usual laid-back expression, raised an eyebrow. "You guys seriously raced to the ice cream stand? Wasn't it right here the whole time?"

"Doesn't matter," you replied with a shrug, "It's more fun this way. Besides, you didn't think I'd let you win, did you?" You flashed a grin at Rafe.

Rafe didn't respond immediately. Instead, he stared down at you with that look—a mixture of affection and the slightest bit of disbelief, like he couldn't believe how much you could get under his skin, in the best way possible.

"Yeah, well," Rafe finally said, "You're lucky you're cute."

You stuck your tongue out at him, practically bouncing from foot to foot in your excitement. "I'm always lucky. Now, what do you guys want? I'm buying!" You grabbed your wallet, pulling out the cash with dramatic flair.

Kelce laughed and placed his order, leaning back against the counter as he watched you with a sort of amused curiosity. Topper, ever the serious one, just grinned.

Rafe, though, shook his head. "You sure you don't want me to pay for it?" he teased, knowing full well you'd argue with him if he did.

"Not happening." You pouted, crossing your arms as you took the ice cream cones from the attendant and handed one to Rafe. "You always want to pay for everything. You don't get to be in charge all the time, okay?"

"Who says I want to be in charge?" Rafe smirked, nudging you with his elbow. "I'm perfectly fine letting you be the boss, love."

"Well, you're stuck with me, so suck it up," you quipped back, licking your ice cream with a satisfied sigh.

Topper, clearly getting a kick out of your dynamic with Rafe, nudged Kelce. "Rafe's whipped, huh?"

"You bet," Kelce replied, clearly enjoying himself.

You shot them both a playful glare. "I heard that," you said, narrowing your eyes as you glared at them both. "But don't worry, I'll make sure Rafe doesn't get too soft on you guys."

Kelce grinned. "Right. Because we all know Rafe's got his boundaries."

Rafe shot him a look, a chuckle escaping his lips as he turned back to you. "I'm not soft, love," he murmured, voice low. "I just know when to let you have your fun."

You smiled sweetly, taking another bite of your ice cream. "That's why I love you."

Rafe's gaze softened slightly, and you caught the brief flicker of something in his eyes—something that told you, in that moment, he might've been getting more than he let on.

Topper and Kelce, however, were oblivious to the tender look exchanged between the two of you, instead continuing their lighthearted teasing. The guys joked around, making fun of each other and sharing stories, but you couldn't help but notice the way Rafe stayed by your side, a protective presence that, even when he was acting like his usual self, wasn't all that scary.

You were, after all, his world. In moments like these, you reminded him of how much he actually needed those moments of simplicity. And while you may have been the childish one, bouncing around like an overenthusiastic puppy, he was more than happy to play along.

Eventually, after more teasing and laughs, the group made their way back to the beach, ready for whatever else the day held. But for you, the best part wasn't just the ice cream or the sprint to the stand—it was how you could be yourself, carefree and childish, with Rafe by your side.

And as the sun began to dip into the horizon, you leaned against him, feeling his arm slide around your waist as you both watched the waves crash against the shore. For once, the weight of the world was far away, and in that moment, all that mattered was the lightness you'd brought to each other.
