The sun was high in the sky, the Outer Banks beach shimmering beneath its warm rays. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore, the laughter of tourists and locals mixing in the air, and the salty breeze made everything feel like a dream. You were spending the day with Kie and Sarah, soaking up the sun, chatting about life, and just enjoying the carefree atmosphere of the beach.

"Can you believe it?" Sarah said, as she adjusted her sunglasses, her voice filled with excitement. "You're officially part of the group now. No more awkward 'getting-to-know-you' stage."

You grinned, the soft, friendly teasing lightening your mood even more. "I'm happy to be here," you said, splashing a bit of water in her direction. "And you guys are stuck with me for good now."

Kie laughed, pulling her legs up to her chest on the towel beside you. "As if we'd ever let you go," she teased. "But, seriously, you're good for Rafe. I'm happy you two are together."

Your heart swelled at the thought of Rafe. The way he made you feel, like you were the only person in the world that mattered to him—his quiet intensity, his unwavering loyalty, and the way he could make you feel safe no matter what life threw your way. It was hard to imagine life without him now.

"I'm happy with him, too," you said, your voice soft, a smile tugging at your lips. "He's... everything."

As you spent time laughing and chatting with your friends, the day seemed to stretch out, the golden hour slipping away slowly. You hadn't seen Rafe all day, but you didn't think much of it. He was probably at home, doing his own thing. You figured you'd catch up with him when you got back.

What you didn't know was that Rafe, back at home, was with Topper—his focus on something much more important than just hanging out. Rafe had been planning this for weeks, and now, with the day finally here, he couldn't wait to ask you the question that had been on his mind.

Topper leaned against the counter, arms crossed as he watched Rafe pacing the kitchen. "You sure about this, man?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "You're really doing it?"

Rafe stopped in his tracks, running a hand through his hair. "I know it's crazy, but I've never been more sure of anything in my life," he replied, his voice steady with conviction. "She's everything. I want to spend the rest of my life with her."

Topper gave a knowing nod, a rare smile crossing his face. "Alright, man. I got your back. Let's make it happen."

Rafe grinned, finally feeling the weight of everything fall into place. He couldn't wait for you to see what he had planned.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of pink and orange, you and the girls packed up your things and made your way back to the house. You were exhausted but content, the day with your friends leaving you feeling warm and happy.

When you arrived home, you immediately noticed that the house seemed unusually quiet. Normally, Rafe would be in the living room, maybe with a beer in hand, scrolling through his phone or watching TV. But today, there was no sign of him.

"Rafe?" you called out, walking through the house, your voice echoing off the walls. "Babe?"

There was no response at first, and a small frown crossed your face. Where could he be?

Just as you were about to make your way up to your bedroom, the door to the backyard creaked open. You turned, your eyes widening as you saw Rafe standing there, his smile soft but full of something you couldn't quite place.

"Hey," you said, a smile tugging at your lips. "Where've you been?"

Rafe didn't answer right away. He just stepped forward, holding out his hand to you. "Come with me," he said, his voice low and gentle.

Curiosity piqued, you placed your hand in his, letting him lead you through the house and out the back door. The backyard was bathed in the soft glow of string lights, the warm light casting a romantic, almost magical glow across the space. You could see the outline of a small wooden bench near the garden, a blanket spread out beside it, and a table with candles flickering in the breeze.

"What's all this?" you asked, your heart starting to race.

Rafe looked at you with that familiar intensity in his eyes, the one that made your chest tighten. "There's something I need to ask you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Your pulse quickened. The air felt thicker now, like everything was shifting. He took a step closer, his hand still holding yours, and in that moment, you felt like you were the only two people in the world.

"I've spent a lot of time thinking about what I want in my life," Rafe began, his voice steady but filled with emotion. "And what I've realized is that everything I need, everything I've been searching for... it's all been right here. With you."

You blinked, not quite understanding where he was going with this. Rafe's eyes softened, his lips curling into that familiar smile that always made your heart skip. "I want you to know that no matter what happens, no matter where life takes us, I'm always going to be here. I'll always look out for you. You're my everything, Y/N. And I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

Your breath hitched in your throat as he dropped to one knee, pulling something small and glinting from his pocket. Your eyes widened as you realized what was happening. Rafe Cameron, the guy who had once seemed so untouchable, was kneeling in front of you, holding a ring in his hand.

"Y/N," he said, his voice filled with love, hope, and so much raw emotion. "Will you marry me?"

Tears sprang to your eyes, your heart racing in your chest. The world around you seemed to slow down, the moment heavy with significance. You had never been more sure of anything in your life. The love between you two was undeniable, powerful, and real, and now, you couldn't imagine a future without him.

"Yes," you whispered, your voice trembling with emotion. "Yes, Rafe. I'll marry you."

The smile that spread across his face was brighter than anything you'd ever seen. He slipped the ring onto your finger, and as he stood up, you threw your arms around his neck, kissing him with everything you had.

"I got all I need when I got you and I," you whispered against his lips, your heart overflowing with love and gratitude.

Rafe pulled back slightly, his forehead resting against yours as he grinned, his eyes soft and full of joy. "And I got everything I need, too. As long as I've got you."

In that moment, everything felt perfect. The world around you faded away, leaving only the two of you, surrounded by the glow of the candles and the promise of a lifetime together.
