The cool night air felt refreshing against your skin as you and Rafe settled on the roof of the chateau, a blanket sprawled out beneath you. The sky was clear, dotted with a million stars, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder as you gazed up.
"Look at that one!" you pointed out, your finger tracing a shooting star that streaked across the sky.
Rafe chuckled beside you, leaning back on his elbows, his eyes sparkling. "You always pick the best times to look up. I swear you could make staring at the sky look like an Olympic sport."
You turned to him, playfully nudging his arm. "Shut up! It's just really beautiful tonight."
"It is," he admitted, his gaze softening as he watched you. "But you make it even more beautiful."
Your heart skipped a beat, and you felt a blush creep onto your cheeks. "Rafe, you're just saying that."
"No, I mean it," he insisted, turning on his side to face you, propping his head up on his hand. "I don't think you realize how special you are to me."
Feeling your pulse quicken, you smiled shyly. "You're special to me too. I don't know what I'd do without you."
He reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, his touch sending butterflies fluttering in your stomach. "Well, you won't have to find out. I'm not going anywhere."
As you both lay back on the blanket, the stars twinkling above, you felt a sense of peace wash over you. "I love this," you said softly. "Just being here with you."
"Me too," Rafe replied, his voice low and sincere. "It's moments like this that I live for."
Suddenly, he sat up, a playful grin spreading across his face. "Let's make a wish on the next shooting star."
"Okay!" you replied, excitement bubbling in your chest. "What do we wish for?"
"I don't know," he said, feigning deep thought. "How about... a lifetime of nights like this?"
You laughed, shaking your head. "That's too sappy for you, Rafe."
He chuckled, the sound making your heart swell. "Yeah, but it's true. Now, on the count of three."
You nodded, your heart racing as you both looked up at the sky. "One... two... three!"
As you spotted another shooting star, you closed your eyes tightly and made your wish, hoping for everything you desired in your heart.
"I hope it comes true," Rafe said, and when you opened your eyes, he was watching you intently.
"What did you wish for?" you asked, curious.
"I can't tell you," he replied, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Otherwise it won't come true."
"Fine, keep your secrets," you teased, giving him a playful shove.
He laughed, then suddenly turned serious, his gaze locking onto yours. "But really, I wish for you. I want you to always be in my life."
Your breath caught in your throat at his confession. "You mean that?"
"More than anything," he promised. "You're my everything."
With your heart racing, you leaned closer, captivated by his sincerity. "And you're mine."
Rafe closed the distance, his lips capturing yours in a sweet, tender kiss. The world around you faded away, and for that moment, nothing else mattered.
As you pulled back, breathless, you gazed into his eyes, feeling the warmth of the moment wash over you. The stars above continued to shine, but none were as bright as the love you shared with Rafe Cameron.
