It was a sunny Friday afternoon, and the energy at Rafe's house was electric. The excitement of the weekend loomed, and you could feel it in the air. Rafe, Topper, and Kelce were gathered in the living room, their usual banter filling the space with laughter. You loved being around them, but today felt different; the noise and energy swirled around you, making it hard to focus.

After a brief moment of hesitation, you made your way over to where Rafe sat on the couch. As soon as he spotted you, his eyes lit up. "Hey, my love! Come sit with us!" he called out, his voice warm and inviting. You smiled and slipped onto his lap, feeling a wave of comfort wash over you.

As you nestled against him, you caught bits of conversation about the upcoming weekend party. Kelce leaned forward, his excitement palpable. "Are you guys going to bring your swimsuits?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "We should totally have a pool party!"

"Yeah! And we can make it a bonfire night, too!" Topper added, his enthusiasm infectious. "What do you think, Y/N? Are you in?"

You opened your mouth to respond, but as they fired more questions your way—"What kind of food should we bring?" "Should we invite more people?" "What music do you want to hear?"—your mind started to spin. Each question felt like a weight piling onto your chest, and you struggled to keep up with their rapid-fire conversation.

"Uh... I don't know," you stammered, your voice barely audible over their chatter. The noise seemed to amplify, and suddenly, the living room felt overwhelmingly chaotic.

Rafe noticed your discomfort instantly. He leaned closer, his brows furrowing with concern. "Hey, babe, you okay?" he whispered, gently brushing your hair back behind your ear. His presence always soothed you, but today, the swirling energy was too much.

The questions kept coming, and the pressure mounted. "Come on, Y/N! We need your input!" Kelce said, leaning in with an eager grin, but it only made you feel more overwhelmed.

"Guys, can we slow down?" you managed to say, but it felt like no one was listening. The noise grew louder, and you could feel your heart rate quickening. It was as if the walls were closing in, and you didn't know how to handle it.

Rafe could see the panic in your eyes. He wrapped his arms tightly around you, pulling you closer to him, offering a sense of security amidst the chaos. "Hey, hey, look at me," he said softly, tilting your chin up so you could meet his gaze. "Just breathe. It's okay. You don't have to answer everything right now."

But the noise didn't let up. Topper continued to chatter, oblivious to your growing distress. "What about the drinks? Should we get a cooler? And Y/N, what do you want? Soda? Water? A mix of both?"

Your heart raced faster, and suddenly you felt the need to hide. You instinctively buried your face in Rafe's shoulder, seeking the comfort of his warmth. Rafe's grip tightened around you, and he began to run his fingers through your hair in soothing strokes, a quiet rhythm that calmed your racing heart.

"Guys, give her a second," Rafe said firmly but gently. "She's overwhelmed."

"Oh, sorry!" Kelce said immediately, glancing at you with a concerned expression. "I didn't mean to stress you out."

"Yeah, we were just excited," Topper added, looking remorseful. "You can take your time, Y/N."

Rafe continued to hold you close, his fingers gently massaging your scalp. "Just focus on my voice, okay? In and out," he murmured, guiding you through slow, deliberate breaths.

You closed your eyes, letting the warmth of Rafe's body and the rhythm of his touch pull you back down to earth. With each breath, the chaos around you faded just a little. "You're safe," Rafe whispered, his voice steady and reassuring. "You're with me."

Gradually, the tightness in your chest began to ease, and you took a moment to let the noise around you settle into the background. You felt Rafe's presence enveloping you like a warm blanket, and it made all the difference.

After a few moments, you pulled back slightly, just enough to see Rafe's face. He smiled softly, his blue eyes filled with warmth and understanding. "Feel better?" he asked.

You nodded, still resting against his shoulder. "A little."

"Good," he replied, brushing his thumb against your cheek. "Remember, you don't have to answer everything. Just let us know what you want when you're ready."

"Yeah, we're here for you," Kelce added, his voice much softer now. "Sorry if we overwhelmed you. We just got carried away."

Topper nodded in agreement. "Yeah, for real. We just want to have fun, and we thought you'd want to help plan. But it's cool if you need some space."

You took a deep breath, feeling gratitude for their understanding. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate it."

Rafe leaned in, kissing your forehead softly. "You're the best, my love," he whispered, making your heart flutter.

"Okay, let's take a break from planning," Rafe suggested, shifting the topic. "How about we just hang out and relax for a bit?"

"Yeah, let's talk about something else," Kelce agreed, glancing at you for confirmation.

"Maybe we can talk about our classes? Or something that's not a party?" Topper suggested, and the three of them quickly shifted their conversation, letting you find your footing again.

As they began discussing the latest history assignment, you felt yourself relax further. Rafe's warmth still surrounded you, grounding you in the moment. The gentle rhythm of his fingers in your hair kept you at ease, and you found yourself smiling at his playful comments.

"Honestly, I think you'd all fail if I weren't here to help you with history," Rafe teased, grinning as he threw an arm around your shoulders. The playful banter shifted the atmosphere, and you found yourself laughing along, feeling more at home.

You realized that it was okay to feel overwhelmed sometimes, but with Rafe by your side, you could face anything that came your way. And as you sat there, nestled on his lap, surrounded by laughter and friendship, you knew you were exactly where you belonged.
