The sun was setting over the Outer Banks, casting a warm golden glow across the water. You had been looking forward to this evening for what felt like forever. It had been a hectic few weeks for both you and Rafe, with him dealing with his dad's endless demands and you wrapped up in your own busy schedule. But tonight, you were finally able to spend some time together, just the two of you.

You walked down the path to Tannyhill, the sound of the waves crashing in the distance and the warm breeze against your skin. The house loomed ahead, and as you got closer, the familiar feeling of excitement in your chest grew stronger.

Rafe was sitting outside on the porch, leaning back in the chair with a cigarette hanging from his lips, staring out at the horizon. He looked up as you approached, a grin slowly spreading across his face.

"There's my favourite girl," he said, his voice thick with affection.

You couldn't help but smile, your heart skipping a beat at the way he always made you feel special. "I'm your favourite girl?" you teased, walking up the steps to join him.

He tossed the cigarette aside, pushing himself up from the chair and pulling you into a tight hug. "Of course you are. Who else would be my favourite?"

You laughed, wrapping your arms around him. "I don't know, Rafe. You've got a lot of other girls who'd probably love to be your favourite."

He pulled back just enough to look at you, his blue eyes serious now. "But they're not you," he said softly, his hand cupping your cheek. "You're the one I want. Always."

Your breath caught at the intensity in his gaze, and you smiled, feeling a warmth spread through your chest. "You really know how to make a girl feel special, don't you?"

Rafe grinned, pressing a quick kiss to your lips. "Only the best for you, babe."

You both sat down on the porch swing, the cool evening air wrapping around you. Rafe draped his arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer until your head rested on his chest.

For a while, the two of you just sat in comfortable silence, watching the sky change colors as the sun sank lower. There was something about being in his arms that made everything else fade away—the noise of the world, the chaos of life, it all disappeared when you were with him.

"So, what have you been up to?" Rafe asked after a while, breaking the silence.

You looked up at him, your fingers lightly tracing the edge of his shirt. "Same old, same old. School, life, all the usual stuff. But honestly, I've just been counting the days until I could see you again."

Rafe's smile softened, and he pressed a kiss to your forehead. "I've been doing the same thing. It's been too long without you, love."

You shifted, sitting up slightly so you could face him. "I've been thinking about our future a lot lately," you said, your voice quieter now.

Rafe raised an eyebrow, his expression shifting to curiosity. "Yeah? What about it?"

You took a deep breath, gathering your thoughts. "I don't know. It's just, I can't imagine being with anyone else. I want you in my future, Rafe. I want all of it—the good and the bad."

His eyes softened at your words, his hand reaching for yours. "You don't have to worry about that. I want you in my future too. You're the only one I'm thinking about when I picture where I'm going. I'm not going anywhere, not unless it's with you."

You felt a rush of affection as you gazed at him, the bond between you stronger than ever. "I'm glad you feel that way, because I don't want to be with anyone else either. I don't need anyone else when I have you."

Rafe smiled, the usual cocky grin returning to his face. "Good, because I'm not sharing you with anyone."

You laughed softly, leaning in to kiss him again, the taste of him lingering on your lips. The kiss was slow, tender—perfect, just like the moment.

As you pulled back, you rested your forehead against his. "You really are my favourite too, you know?"

Rafe chuckled softly, his hand running through your hair. "I think we make the perfect team, don't you?"

You smiled, closing your eyes for a moment. "Yeah, we do."

The two of you sat there for what felt like hours, lost in each other's company, talking about everything and nothing at all. In that moment, nothing else mattered. It was just you and Rafe, together, wrapped in a quiet, perfect love.
