ʰᵃᵖᵖʸ ᵇⁱʳᵗʰᵈᵃʸ ˡᵉᵉ ᵏⁿᵒʷ‧ .•˖*⑅♡it was a perfect autumn afternoon, crisp air swirling with the scent of fallen leaves and the sun hanging low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the city.
han jisung stood in front of his mirror for what felt like the thousandth time that day, nervously brushing the imaginary wrinkles out of his shirt.
his bed was littered with discarded outfits - a jacket that didn't look right, pants that felt too tight, shirts that he wasn't sure about anymore.
he had spent hours agonizing over what to wear for this date, minho's words echoing in his mind: "wear whatever makes you comfortable." but how could he? this was their first date, and no matter how much minho tried to make him feel at ease, the butterflies swarming in jisung's stomach weren't going anywhere.
jisung bit his lip, tugging at his sweater for the hundredth time, his nerves working overtime. he settled on a soft, cream-colored oversized sweater paired with skinny black jeans. it wasn't anything fancy, but it felt like a good balance between casual and stylish.
more than anything, he just wanted minho to think he looked nice.
checking the time, his heart sped up even more - minho would be here in less than ten minutes. his breath caught in his throat as he tried to calm himself down. why was he so nervous? minho had been nothing but sweet to him since the beginning, patient with all his insecurities and shyness, and yet, the thought of being alone with him on a real date felt so overwhelming.
there was a soft buzz from his phone on the nightstand. it was a text from minho: on my way, sweetheart. see you soon.
the message was simple, but jisung's heart did a flip at the affectionate pet name. he smiled despite the nerves, his thumb hovering over the keyboard as he debated whether or not to respond. after a moment, he settled on a quick, okay, see you soon. he felt like his fingers were shaking as he pressed send.
a few minutes later, the doorbell rang. jisung startled, practically jumping out of his skin. he took a deep breath and forced his feet to move toward the door, rehearsing what he would say in his head.
but when he opened the door and saw minho standing there with that soft, lopsided smile that always made his heart flutter, all his carefully prepared words scattered like fallen leaves.
minho looked effortlessly handsome, as always. he wore a simple black jacket over a dark grey shirt and black jeans, casual but stylish in that way minho seemed to pull off without trying. his hair was slightly tousled from the breeze, and his brown eyes shone with warmth as they locked onto jisung's.
"hey, baby," minho greeted, his voice soft and fond, and jisung's heart skipped a beat at the pet name again.
minho was a few years older, and he always carried himself with this calm confidence that made jisung feel like a clumsy mess by comparison.
"h-hi," jisung stammered, suddenly hyper-aware of every inch of his body. what was he supposed to do with his hands? should he offer a hug? would that be too much? he fidgeted with the hem of his sweater, shifting from foot to foot.
