the storm outside raged with a violent fury. rain hammered against the windows, and the occasional jagged streak of lightning illuminated the darkened room, casting fleeting shadows on the walls. each crash of thunder echoed through the house, vibrating in the floorboards and rattling the windows.
jisung lay in bed, staring at the ceiling as the storm's ferocity built up with each passing second. he had always loved the sound of storms - the deep rumble of thunder, the rhythmic patter of rain - but tonight, something felt different.
he turned his head toward minho, his eyes softening when he saw the tense set of his boyfriend's shoulders.
minho was lying on his side, his back to jisung, his body coiled tight with every rumble of thunder. his breaths were shallow, quick, and jisung could feel the slightest tremor in the bed as minho tried to control his fear.
it wasn't the first time. minho had never been able to fully calm himself during thunderstorms, even though jisung had done his best to reassure him in the past.
jisung's heart softened with a mixture of sympathy and affection. he scooted closer, his chest brushing minho's back as he wrapped his arm around his boyfriend, pulling him gently into his arms. he rested his chin on minho's shoulder, his hand slowly moving to the other man's side, offering warmth and comfort.
"it's okay, min," jisung whispered into his ear, his voice soft but steady. "you're safe here. I'm right here with you."
minho didn't respond immediately, but jisung felt the tiniest of sighs escape from him, a shaky exhale that made jisung's chest ache.
minho's hands were clenched tightly around the sheets, his whole body tense, stiff with fear. he didn't like admitting it, but the storms always made him feel so small, so powerless.
"I'm not going anywhere," jisung added, pressing a kiss to the back of minho's neck. "I'll stay with you."
minho gave a small nod, but jisung could feel the tension still lingering in his body, the storm of emotions swirling inside him. another thunderclap rumbled, louder this time, and jisung felt minho's body stiffen even further. his breath hitched, and his hand gripped the sheets even harder.
"minho," jisung murmured, gently turning him over in his arms. "look at me."
minho's eyes were wide, his pupils dilated with fear. he tried to smile, but it was weak, forced. "I'm fine," he said, though the tremble in his voice told jisung everything.
another crash of thunder split the night, shaking the entire room. minho flinched, his eyes squeezed shut, and a shiver ran through his body.
without thinking, jisung moved. he cupped minho's face in his hands, leaning in close until their lips brushed. the touch was gentle, almost tentative, but minho's body reacted immediately, his muscles locking up again, his chest heaving with quick breaths.
"hey," jisung murmured softly, his lips barely hovering over minho's. "I'm not letting go, okay?"
minho's breath hitched again as the storm roared outside, the thunder booming louder, rattling the windows. he whimpered softly, his hands finding purchase on jisung's shoulders, as if seeking something to hold on to.
