ᵉⁿʲᵒʸʸ ~

the evening had arrived quietly, wrapped in the kind of cold that settled beneath clothes no matter how many layers someone wore.

winter had begun creeping into the city weeks ago, stealing the warmth from late afternoons and replacing it with crisp air that stung noses and painted every breath white.

the university campus had already emptied for the night, lecture halls dark behind locked doors while only a handful of students wandered toward their dorms.

graduation was only a few weeks away now, and the thought lingered heavily between minho and jisung even when neither of them dared mention it aloud. every meeting felt strangely important, as though both of them understood that time was slipping through their fingers faster than either wanted to admit.

they had ended up walking through the small park without planning to.

it had become something they did naturally over the past months. one of them would text first - usually minho asking if jisung had eaten, or jisung complaining about an impossible assignment - and somehow they'd always end up together by the evening.

neither of them ever called it a date. neither of them questioned why spending hours together suddenly felt easier than being apart.

somewhere along the way, the silence between them had become comfortable instead of awkward.

the park was almost empty.

the usual crowds that crossed the paths during the afternoon had long since disappeared, leaving only quiet walkways dusted with the first hints of frost. the stillness settled gently over everything, interrupted only by the distant rustle of bare branches and the occasional crunch of footsteps somewhere far away. it felt as though the entire park had been left waiting for winter to fully claim it.

only a few lamps lined the winding paths, their soft yellow light reflecting against patches of frost beginning to gather over the grass. bare branches swayed gently overhead, making quiet sounds whenever the wind passed through them. somewhere in the distance, someone laughed before the sound disappeared into the cold night.

jisung tucked his hands deeper into the sleeves of his hoodie.

he curled his fingers into the fabric until they almost disappeared, instinctively trying to trap whatever warmth remained. it barely helped. every new gust of wind slipped effortlessly through the thin material, brushing against his skin with enough bite to make him instinctively hunch his shoulders.

it wasn't nearly enough.

the hoodie had been fine earlier that afternoon when the sun was still out, but now it felt almost useless against the steadily dropping temperature. cold seeped stubbornly through every layer until it settled somewhere deep in his bones, refusing to leave no matter how tightly he wrapped his arms around himself.
