the night started soft, like most nights did when it was just them and the others, gathered in the dorm's living room, a pile of blankets and laughter and voices layered over music playing from someone's playlist. the mood was light, easy. the kind of comfort that came from years of knowing each other, from routines that felt like home.
minho had arrived first with jisung, dropping onto the couch with a blanket slung over his shoulder and his head already leaning into jisung's side like a magnet. jisung had smiled, warm and a little teasing, wrapping his arm around minho and tugging him in.
"missed you today," jisung had murmured against minho's hair.
"you saw me two hours ago."
"still missed you," jisung said, grinning.
minho hadn't argued. instead, he hummed quietly and let himself relax into the weight of jisung's hold. they stayed like that for a while, knees brushing, hands finding each other under the blanket, fingers threading together lazily.
jisung had leaned in at one point to kiss minho's cheek just because he could, whispering, "my soft boy," with that tiny smirk that always made minho's chest tighten.
everything felt warm and safe.
then the rest of the boys arrived. chan and changbin brought snacks, felix and hyunjin were loud from the moment they stepped through the door, seungmin and jeongin trailing behind them with their usual quiet, playful bickering.
soon enough, the room filled with energy, cushions on the floor, bodies sprawled everywhere, and voices layered over voices.
jisung slowly peeled away from minho, just a little at first - leaning forward to laugh at something changbin said, then throwing a comment across the room at jeongin. minho didn't mind at first. he shifted slightly, tucking his legs underneath himself, gaze following jisung as he got more and more caught up in the conversation.
and then jisung stood up, moving toward the tv with chan and felix to argue over what to put on next.
that was when the pout started.
minho sat curled into the couch corner, arms crossed loosely, lips tugged downward. his eyes tracked jisung like he was trying to will him to look back. he didn't. jisung was laughing with felix now, explaining some dumb movie scene in full detail, his hands flailing around as he did impressions.
minho sighed. quietly. still, nothing.
so he did something silly. something just dumb enough to maybe catch jisung's eye. he reached over, grabbed the empty snack bag beside him, and carefully placed it on his head like a makeshift crown. then he sat there. still pouting. still silent. just a sad little king waiting for his court jester boyfriend to notice.
jisung turned his head a second later - probably feeling the weight of minho's i am being ignored and mildly dramatic aura - and when his eyes landed on the sight, he blinked, then let out a breathy laugh.
"oh my god, min," he said, smiling. that soft, fond smile he only ever gave to minho. the one that made minho feel like the center of every moment. jisung walked over, leaned down, and kissed his temple. "good job, baby," he murmured, voice low and warm. "very powerful fashion statement."
minho smiled a little. he tried not to. but it was impossible when jisung looked at him like that.
but then... jisung turned away again. just like that. back to the others. back to chan and changbin and felix and whatever movie was still being debated. and minho was left there, snack-bag crown slipping sideways on his head, heart sinking just a little more.
