it had been nearly three weeks since the weekend sleepover at minho's apartment - three weeks since ji-hun had cried into minho's hoodie, refused to let go for seven whole minutes, and then fell asleep on jisung's shoulder in the train ride home, clutching his plush dinosaur like his tiny heart had been broken.

and since then, things hadn't quite gone back to normal.

not really.

because now, minho wasn't just "jisung's friend" anymore. not to ji-hun. no - now he was minmin. and according to ji-hun, minmin was supposed to be a permanent fixture in their lives. everywhere. always.

jisung noticed it immediately, even if he tried to pretend he didn't.

"where's minmin?" ji-hun would ask almost every day, like a ritual, like brushing his teeth or asking for chocolate milk. sometimes it was over breakfast, other times while playing on the floor, toy dinosaurs lined up in front of him like a council.

"minmin's at work," jisung would say the first few times, and ji-hun would just pout and go back to playing. but that didn't last. soon the questions came more often, his voice more urgent.

"is minmin coming over today?"

"are we going to minmin's house?"

"is it friday yet? can minmin come on friday?"

jisung had started ignoring the questions. not because he didn't want minho around - god, if anything, he wanted minho too much - but because the way ji-hun asked made something ache in his chest. like his little brother had fallen in love, too, and didn't know what to do with all that emotion.

but then came saturday.

and ji-hun's ultimate betrayal.

jisung was pulling on his socks, hair still damp from his shower, the rest of his outfit already on - black jeans, an oversized hoodie minho had left at his place months ago (he'd never given it back), and a silver chain that sat nicely against his collarbone. he had plans. he and minho were going out for the day - a proper date, the kind where they didn't have to cut pancakes into dinosaurs or hide kisses behind someone's tiny hands.

ji-hun had been suspiciously quiet until then.

but the moment he saw jisung sitting on the edge of the bed, lacing up his shoes, it was like a switch flipped.

his little feet pattered quickly across the hardwood floor until he stopped in front of jisung, eyes already big and shiny.

"are you going out with minmin?" he asked, voice full of hope.

jisung looked down, slightly alarmed, already regretting being seen.

"...i am," he said slowly, tugging his sock higher.

that was apparently the wrong answer.

because in the next second, ji-hun rushed forward, placing both his small hands on jisung's knee with urgency, eyes wide and watery as if he was about to deliver the most heart-wrenching monologue ever written.

"take me with you," he begged, voice pitched high and emotional. "wanna see minmin! please, please, pleaseeeeeee!"

jisung blinked at him.

"no."

the drama was immediate.

ji-hun dropped his hands like jisung had just slapped them away, and his face fell like jisung had just cancelled christmas. he took two slow steps back, then turned dramatically on his heel and stomped out of the room with all the power his four-year-old legs could muster.
