-------------------december had arrived with its crisp air, the smell of roasted chestnuts wafting through the city, and streets adorned with twinkling lights.
the christmas markets were bustling, brimming with laughter and warmth despite the cold.
minho had always enjoyed this time of year, but today was different. his heart beat a little faster than usual, not because of the festive season, but because of the person walking beside him.
jisung. sweet, bright, endlessly endearing jisung, who had agreed to come along without hesitation when minho asked him to the markets.
they weren't dating - not officially, at least. but there was a warmth between them, a tentative connection that neither of them had dared to name yet.
jisung clutched his hot chocolate in gloved hands, his nose pink from the cold as he sipped and made an appreciative hum. "this is so good," he said, glancing up at minho with those sparkling eyes that always managed to undo him.
minho smiled softly, his gaze lingering. "you're going to drink it all before we've even walked halfway through the market, sungie."
jisung pouted playfully. "you said we'd get more if I finish this one."
"I did, didn't I?" minho chuckled. "alright, I'll keep my word. but next time, I'm holding your cup hostage so you actually savor it."
jisung giggled, the sound so pure and bright that minho felt his chest tighten.
they wandered through the market, browsing stalls filled with handmade ornaments, candles, and delicious-smelling treats.
at one point, minho bought a sugar cane and handed it to jisung with a small smirk.
"for you," minho said, his voice teasing but his expression soft.
jisung's cheeks turned a shade darker, and he ducked his head. "you're so corny," he muttered, but he accepted the candy. his fingers brushed minho's briefly, sending a spark through both of them.
"it suits you," minho replied, grinning. "sweet and cute."
jisung nearly choked on his next sip of hot chocolate, mumbling something unintelligible as he tried to focus on the bustling market instead of the way his heart was racing.

as the day went on and the sun dipped lower, the lights strung around the market stalls came to life.
jisung stopped in his tracks, his lips parting as his gaze lifted to take in the twinkling display. strings of golden lights crisscrossed above the market, glowing against the deepening blue of the evening sky. lanterns hung from wooden stalls, and a giant christmas tree glittered in the center of it all.
"wow," jisung whispered, his voice barely audible over the hum of the crowd. his eyes were wide, filled with childlike wonder.
minho didn't look at the lights. he couldn't. his gaze was locked on jisung. the way the soft glow illuminated his features, the way his cheeks were flushed from the cold, the way his lips curved ever so slightly as he admired the view - it was all too beautiful, too overwhelming.
"you're staring," jisung said suddenly, turning to face minho, his brows lifting in surprise.
minho didn't even flinch. "yeah," he said softly, his lips quirking into a small smile. "I am."
jisung's face grew even redder, and he quickly looked away. "y-you're so embarrassing," he stammered, but there was no bite in his tone. only a warmth that matched the one blooming in minho's chest.
