ᵃⁿʸʷᵃʸʸʸ' ᵉⁿʲᵒʸ ʳᵉᵃᵈⁱⁿᵍᵍ˙minho knew something was wrong the moment his parents called him into the study.
it wasn't unusual for his father to summon him - conversations about responsibility, the family name, and expectations were regular occurrences in the lee household.
but something about this felt different. more final.
the air in the study was heavy, the scent of polished wood and expensive cologne pressing in on him as he stepped inside.
his father sat behind the massive oak desk, his posture straight, fingers steepled. his mother sat beside him, her hands neatly folded on the glossy surface, her expression unreadable.
minho leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms. "what's this about?"
his mother smiled, but it was forced - tight, practiced. "come sit down, minho."
a request disguised as an order.
minho didn't move. "no thanks."
his father exhaled sharply, rubbing his temples. "minho. sit."
that tone. the one that didn't allow arguments. the one he had grown up hearing, the one that had dictated the course of his life in ways he had never asked for.
his jaw tightened, but he pushed off the doorframe and walked over, dropping onto the leather chair across from them.
he wasn't stupid - he knew when his parents were about to tell him something he wouldn't like. and right now, every nerve in his body was screaming at him that whatever this was, it was big.
and bad.
his mother inhaled slowly, as if she was preparing herself. "you're getting married."
silence.
minho blinked. he was sure he had misheard.
he let out a short laugh. "that's funny. I thought you just said I was getting married."
his father's expression remained cold, unwavering. "because you are."
something in minho's chest tightened. "you can't be serious."
his mother's expression softened, but the resolve in her voice didn't waver. "it's already decided."
minho shot up from his seat, his pulse spiking. "decided? by who? certainly not me."
his mother flinched, but his father remained unmoved. "minho-"
"no." his voice was sharper now, anger curling at the edges. "no fucking way." his hands curled into fists at his sides. "you don't get to decide something like this for me. it's my life."
his father's gaze was unyielding. "it's our family's reputation. this marriage is important - for business, for stability. it's a perfect match."
