-------------------minho had been pacing his small living room for the past hour and eighteen minutes. he'd gotten ready so much earlier than he needed to, nerves making it impossible to sit still.
his eyes flitted back and forth between the clock and the window, the steady rhythm of rain against the glass adding an extra layer of anticipation.
he hadn't even known what they'd be doing today - jisung had kept the details of their date a secret - but he'd insisted minho dress warmly. that small message had made minho's heart do a funny little flip.
they'd been dating for only two weeks, and yet minho felt this warmth in his chest that he couldn't ignore.
this was only their third date, but his heart knew, somehow, that this was different.
he was so lost in his thoughts that when the doorbell rang at exactly 4 p.m., he nearly jumped.
one last glance in the mirror told him he was ready, or at least as ready as he could be - soft pink sweater tucked neatly into his favorite light blue jeans, his coat draped snugly over him for warmth. his hair was an unruly mess that refused to be tamed no matter how much he tried, but he finally gave up, hoping jisung wouldn't mind.
he skipped to the door, barely containing his excitement as he opened it, and there jisung stood, beaming at him.
the sight of him made minho's heart skip. jisung was dressed in dark jeans and a cozy green blouse, his own coat wrapped around him against the chill. raindrops had already dampened his hair, giving it a tousled, almost carefree look that made minho smile despite his nerves.
"hey, min," jisung greeted softly, his voice warm and gentle.
minho blinked, feeling his cheeks heat up as he stammered a quiet "h-hi..." back.
jisung chuckled softly, lifting a hand to reveal a single red rose he'd been holding behind his back. he extended it to minho, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
minho's lips parted, eyes wide as he looked at the rose, then back at jisung. "for me?" he whispered and pointed at himself, almost as if he didn't believe it.
"for you, darling," jisung replied with a smile, his voice tinged with that familiar, playful sweetness that minho had fallen for.
minho took the rose, bringing it up to his nose and inhaling its delicate fragrance. "thank you..." he murmured, his face lighting up as he gave jisung a shy smile, his bunny teeth showing just a bit.
"of course, anything for you," jisung said softly, watching minho with such fondness that minho felt his heart melt a little more. he held out his hand. "shall we?"
minho nodded, a gentle smile tugging at his lips as he took jisung's hand, feeling a shiver run through him at the contact.

they stepped out together, the rain drizzling down in a steady rhythm. before they even took two steps, jisung pulled an umbrella from his bag, opening it with a flourish.
"come on, min. we're going to share," he grinned, tilting the umbrella so minho could fit snugly under its shelter.
minho's face grew pink, and he lowered his gaze as he nestled closer to jisung, his shoulder brushing against him. "thank you..." he whispered, trying to ignore the heat spreading across his cheeks.
jisung reached out, his fingers gently wrapping around minho's hand. his own were slightly cold, but the touch warmed minho in a way nothing else could.
