ᵇᵒʸˢ ⁱⁿ ˢᵏⁱʳᵗˢ. ᵈᵒⁿ'ᵗ ʳᵉᵃᵈ ⁱᶠ ᵘⁿᶜᵒᵐᶠᵒʳᵗᵃᵇˡᵉthe soft rustle of fabric accompanied minho as he walked home, his head bowed, the shopping bag in his trembling hand brushing against the folds of his skirt.
a soft, peach-colored skirt swayed around his knees, paired with a white sweater tucked in neatly, giving him a silhouette he had fallen in love with in the mirror earlier that day.
he'd spent extra time adjusting the outfit, smoothing the fabric, and ensuring every detail was perfect. his heart had been light and eager, his steps confident as he left the apartment.
for the first time, he had decided to wear something so delicate and soft outside the safe cocoon of his home. jisung, his boyfriend, had seen him off with an encouraging smile, telling him how beautiful he looked before pressing a lingering kiss to his forehead. it had given minho the final push of courage he needed to step out.
the morning had started wonderfully. the sun was warm but gentle, the streets buzzing with people going about their day. minho had held his head high as he walked to the local grocery store, even smiling politely at passersby.
but as the minutes ticked by, the warmth in his chest began to wither, replaced by an uncomfortable tightness.
"is that a guy in a skirt?" a voice whispered harshly from behind him, and minho's steps faltered.
"that's so weird," someone else chimed in, their tone laced with derision.
he ignored it at first, clinging to his confidence like a lifeline, but the comments kept coming.
"look at him! what does he think he's doing?"
"disgusting. he's probably doing it for attention."
the words felt like sharp pebbles being thrown at his back.
minho had always been a sensitive soul, wearing his heart on his sleeve despite the walls he built to protect himself. he tried to focus on his shopping, but every time he looked up, he felt eyes on him. judging. mocking.
a group of teenagers giggled as he passed.
"hey, princess! forgot your heels?" one of them called out, the others bursting into laughter.
minho's face burned. he clenched his shopping bag tighter and walked faster, keeping his gaze fixed on the floor.
by the time he left the store, his confidence had crumbled entirely. tears pricked at his eyes, but he swallowed them down, determined not to cry in public. he felt foolish for thinking he could have a moment of freedom, a moment of expression without fear.
when he finally reached the apartment, his body was tense, his steps heavy. as he unlocked the door, he was greeted by the familiar sight of soonie, one of his three beloved cats, padding over to him with a soft meow.
"hi, baby," he whispered, his voice so gentle as he crouched to scratch under soonie's chin. the simple act of affection brought a lump to his throat. his hand stilled as the weight of the day pressed down on him, and his eyes filled with tears.
