minho and jisung strolled hand in hand down the vibrant street, the faint scent of roasted chestnuts and winter air wrapping around them like a cozy blanket.

the city lights twinkled above them, reflecting in the puddles on the sidewalk. minho, with his sharp but gentle demeanour, guided jisung through the crowd, his fingers firmly interlaced with the younger's.

their date had started at a small, quaint café tucked into the corner of the bustling district. jisung, wide-eyed and always brimming with excitement, had begged
minho to try the pastries he'd read glowing reviews about online.

minho, though slightly sceptical, had indulged him. they'd shared a plate of strawberry shortcake, minho teasing jisung, for how easily the whipped cream ended up on his nose.

"you're like a baby," minho chuckled, reaching over to wipe the cream away with his thumb.

"maybe I'm just a messy eater," jisung shot back, trying to defend himself, though his words lacked any heat. his cheeks were flushed pink, partly from the cold and partly from minho's undivided attention.

after the café, they meandered through a nearby park. jisung couldn't stop giggling as minho attempted to spin him under the fairy-lit archway, only for them to nearly topple over together.

it had been a perfect, dreamy evening, filled with laughter, shared stories, and the quiet intimacy that came so naturally to the two of them.

they'd shared a quiet dinner at a small Italian bistro, their conversations flowing easily between teasing banter and heartfelt confessions.

but as much as jisung adored spending time with minho, something about tonight started to fell... off.

"hyung, you're on your phone again," jisung said softly, watching minho's face illuminated by the faint glow of his screen for what felt like the hundredth time that night.

"hmm?" minho glanced up briefly, his fingers still typing something quickly before he locked the screen and slid the phone into his pocket. "sorry, sweetheart. just checking on something. where were we?"

jisung tried to muster a smile, but the knot in his chest tightened. this wasn't like minho.

normally, minho gave him his full - like earlier today - undivided attention during their dates, making him feel like the only person in the world.

tonight, though, minho had been distracted, his phone a constant third wheel.

"it's nothing," jisung murmured, focusing on the half-finished plate of pasta in front of him. he tried to brush it off, telling himself he was overreacting. minho was probably just busy with something important.

but even as they left the restaurant and began walking toward minho's apartment, the behaviour continued.

every few minutes, minho would glance at his phone, his brows furrowing in concentration before he quickly hid the screen again.
