- little space -the haunted house loomed before the group, a crooked grin of broken windows and twisted vines.
chan led the way, flashlight in hand, while the others followed close behind. jisung held tightly onto minho's hand, his thumb absently rubbing circles on the back of it.
he tried not to show his nerves, but the eerie atmosphere sent chills down his spine.
"alright, rules for hide-and-seek," chan announced, stopping just before the dilapidated entrance. his authoritative tone carried a playful edge. "no hiding outside. no wandering too far from the main rooms. and no scaring each other to death!"
"where's the fun in that?" hyunjin teased, slinging an arm around felix, who grinned mischievously.
"some of us value our lives, thank you," seungmin muttered, shoving his hands into his pockets. jeongin nodded in agreement, sticking close to him.
jisung chuckled nervously, his grip on minho tightening. minho glanced down at him, sensing his unease. "you okay, baby?" he asked quietly, voice warm and steady.
jisung nodded quickly. "yeah, I'm fine, just... y'know, haunted house vibes," he said with a small laugh, trying to brush off the lingering apprehension.
minho's eyes softened. "if it gets too much, tell me, okay? I'll stick by your side."
"promise?"
"always." minho leaned down, pressing a quick kiss to jisung's temple, earning a small, sheepish smile from him.
the game began soon after, with chan volunteering to be the seeker. everyone scattered, their laughter echoing through the dusty hallways.
jisung ran down a corridor, his heart pounding - not from fear, but from the adrenaline of the game. spotting a small closet door partially ajar, he quickly slipped inside and pulled it shut behind him.
the darkness was immediate, the air in the closet stale and close. jisung crouched low, wrapping his arms around his knees.
at first, he tried to focus on the game, imagining how clever his hiding spot was. But as seconds turned into minutes, the cramped space seemed to shrink.
his breathing quickened. the walls felt like they were closing in, and the faint sound of footsteps outside only made it worse. he pressed his hands to his chest, trying to calm himself, but the panic clawed its way up.
"minho..." he whispered shakily, his voice barely audible. his mind spiraled, unable to stop the rush of fear. tears pricked his eyes, and his head dipped to rest against his knees.
unbeknownst to him, minho had been found early on. chan had laughed, teasing him about how terrible his hiding spot was, and minho had waved it off with a smirk. but when chan mentioned jisung hadn't been found yet, something in minho's gut twisted.
"don't worry, hannie's smart," chan assured him. "he's probably found the best hiding spot in the house."
minho forced a smile but couldn't shake the nagging feeling that something was off. "I'm gonna go look for him," he said, brushing past chan.
"you can't help him win!" hyunjin called after him, but minho ignored it, his focus solely on finding jisung.
he wandered through the house, his footsteps echoing in the empty hallways. he passed jeongin and changbin, both hiding behind a tattered curtain, but didn't stop to give them away. his heart was beating faster now, a sense of urgency building.
"jisung?" he called softly. "baby, where are you?"
it was then that he heard it - a faint whimper coming from a nearby closet. minho's breath hitched. he hurried to the door and opened it gently, his heart breaking at the sight before him.
jisung was curled up tightly, his face buried in his knees. his shoulders trembled as soft cries escaped him, barely audible.
"hannie..." minho crouched down immediately, his voice laced with concern. "baby, it's me. I'm here."
jisung's head shot up, his tear-streaked face twisting into a look of pure relief. "min..." he whimpered, his voice small and shaky. he reached out with trembling hands, his mind fully slipping into his little space.
minho wasted no time, scooping jisung into his arms and cradling him close. "shh, it's okay, I've got you," he murmured, pressing soft kisses to jisung's hair and forehead.
jisung clung to him desperately, his fingers clutching at minho's shirt. "scawed..." he mumbled, his words barely coherent.
"I know, baby. I know. you're safe now, I promise. I've got you," minho soothed, his voice low and gentle. he stood, carrying jisung out of the closet and away from the haunted house's eerie atmosphere.
minho found an empty room with an old sofa and settled down, keeping jisung securely in his arms. "you're my brave boy," he said softly, stroking Jisung's hair. "you did so well. I'm so proud of you."
jisung sniffled, burying his face in minho's neck. "stay... wif you," he mumbled, his voice laced with childish vulnerability.
"always, hannie," minho assured him, pressing a tender kiss to his cheek. "I'm not going anywhere."
jisung's tears gradually slowed as minho's soothing words and gentle touches wrapped around him like a blanket. minho kissed his forehead, his nose, his cheeks - anywhere he could reach - whispering sweet reassurances all the while.
"better?" minho asked after a while, his hands never stopping their soft strokes along jisung's back.
jisung nodded, his lips curving into a small, sleepy smile. "min... kisses?"
minho chuckled softly, his heart melting. "of course, baby." he leaned in, peppering jisung's face with soft, loving kisses. "how's that?"
jisung giggled, the sound light and innocent. "mowe!"
"as many as you want, my love." minho pressed another kiss to his nose, then one to his lips, lingering there for a moment.
the fear that had gripped jisung earlier seemed like a distant memory now. wrapped in minho's warmth and surrounded by his love, jisung felt safe - like nothing in the world could hurt him.
eventually, the others found them. chan peeked into the room, concern flashing across his face when he saw jisung nestled in minho's arms.
"everything okay?" chan asked softly.
minho nodded. "he just got a little scared, but he's alright now."
jisung peeked out from minho's shoulder, his cheeks pink. "hi..." he said shyly, his voice still small.
"hey, hannie," felix said gently, stepping into the room. "we were looking for you. are you feeling better?"
jisung nodded, leaning further into minho. "min made it bettew," he said quietly.
minho's heart swelled, and he kissed the top of jisung's head. "of course I did, baby. that's my job."
the group decided to call it a night, everyone agreeing that the haunted house had been enough excitement. as they walked back to the cars, jisung stayed close to minho, holding his hand tightly.
once they were back home, minho helped jisung get into his comfiest pajamas and tucked him into bed. he climbed in beside him, pulling jisung close.
"min, love," jisung murmured sleepily, his voice still carrying a hint of his little space.
"I love you too, hannie," minho replied, pressing a final kiss to his forehead. "sweet dreams, my brave boy."
jisung drifted off with a soft smile, his fear forgotten in the safety of minho's arms.
