Chapter 65: Wailing

   "Mom."

"Mom" Willow says poking abby's face. Abby groaned. She didn't get much sleep last night. The nightmares weren't stopping, even at camp.

"Do you want breakfast or not?" Willow says shaking her this time.

"Alright i'm up." She says groaning as she sits up. Abby turned over to look at theo but he was gone. She quickly jumped up before willow grabbed her shaking hand.

"Daryl took him to maggie, he didn't wanna wake you up." Willow says as abby's hand calmed.

"Let me get dressed and i'll be out. Grab me a plate." Abby says letting go out willows hand. Motioning her to the tent flap. Willow happy agrees and heads out.

Abby sat back down for a second before she started getting ready. She didn't know what she would be getting up to today to she didn't wear anything crazy. Her jeans, a tank top and one of glenn's old flannels. Abby put her hair into a pulled back braid. Just as she was putting her boots on commotion broke out outside. She quickly finished and headed outside to see what was going on.

"Turn around all of you." Abby hears carol say breaking it up.

"No can do CC, so why don't you yank that roscoe and pop me right here? It's better than worrying about getting it in the back." A savior says as many people pull out the guns.

"We don't want this. We just need to protect ourselves." A very familiar savior says making abby's blood boil.

"No guns." Daryl says behind her catching her attention. He stood on top of a rock, making everyone look at him.

"That cause you're the one who took out justin?" The savior man yells at him.

"Nah my moneys on the garbage lady." Another one says.

"Revenge on simon's play, sure." A lady says looking at Jadis.

"No it's him. Finishing what he started." The man says looking at daryl. He then headed over to an axe that sat up against a tree.

"Hey, stop. It's gonna go too far." Arat says making abby grab her knife from her front pocket.

"Nah, it won't." Daryl says as abby steps closer to him.

"Maybe it's both of them." The man says while the saviors look ready to fight. Abby looked around for willow and theo. Hoping they were somewhere safe. Eyes wondered everywhere as people waited, ready. Before anyone could do anything rick comes flying through with his horse.

"Everyone back off, right now." He says looking around at everyone. No one dared to move.

"I'm gonna go find willow and theo." Abby says to daryl. He grunted before she walked away. She quickly walked around looking everywhere. Abby soon found her and theo with george at his tent. Willow quickly ran over and hugged abby.

"Hey mom! George brought us over here when the chaos started." Willow says coming out of the hug.

"Someone killed justin last night." George says looking up at her. Abby walked over and sat down with them. George was sharping his sword.

"I heard." She says rubbing theos head. Abby watched as he played with some rocks.

"Do you know who it was?" George ask going back to sharpening his sword. Abby shrugged her shoulders and continued watching theo.

"If i'm gonna be honest, it could be anyone. Most people want the saviors dead. Hell, I wish I did it." She says making him look up. He stared at her for a second before speaking.

"Same here, dude was an asshole." He says making abby chuckle.

The rest of the day fell by. Abby mainly spent it hanging with willow and theo. When she woke up the next morning daryl was no where to be seen. Abby felt like she had barely seen him. She was hoping coming to camp would help her see him more. Abby quickly got dressed went outside.

"Long time no see." She says as she sees daryl sitting outside the tent. He had theo in his arms feeding him an apple with his knife.

"Mhm." He says shoving an apple in his own mouth before giving theo another piece.

Abby grabs herself an apple before sitting down next to him. She rest her head on his shoulder and bits into the apple.

"How's everything going?" She ask, mouth full.

"Shit like normal. Rick's being a prick." He says making her chuckle.

"You can't use negans line." Abby says still chuckling as he rolls his eyes. She stops chuckling as she sees rick walk by. Frantically talking on the walkie. Once he stops daryl stands up, handing theo to abby.

"Be right back." He says before walking away. Abby sighed and held theo close.

"He's so grumpy sometimes." She says making theo laugh. She turned her head and looked at the two men. Daryl patted rick's back before they hopped onto daryl's bike. The one thing that was still running on fuel.

Abby sat in the main tent looking at plans with theo playing on the ground. She was singing a song quietly as she looked through all the papers. Gun shots echoed through the air making theo jump and cry. She quickly picked him up and grabbed her gun.

Abby quickly exited the tent and made a beeline to daryl's tent. Gun shots echoed throughout the camp. She carefully held theos head down as she ran. Once she got to the tent, willow sat inside gun at the door. She relaxed and hugged abby.

"Grab her gear we gotta go." Abby says grabbing her stuff. Gunshots continued to go off. Once they grabbed everything, it went quiet. Abby didn't hesitate to run out and head to the bridge. It didn't take long before she saw maggie.

"Maggie!" She says running to her. Maggie ran over and pulled them into a hug.

"You ok?" She says checking them all out.

"All good, you guys?" Abby asked looking at everyone who'd gotten away from the shoot out.

"Yeah, I heard the gunshots from Alexandria. Came over with michonne." Maggie says before daryl's comes over pulling her and theo into a hug.

"We gotta go help rick. Herds coming towards the bridge." Maggie says as daryl pulls out of the hug. Abby's heart sunk.

"He's by himself?" She says aggressively.

"I can double back and grab a horse. Lead the herd of with him." She says handing willow theo. Abby goes to turn around and daryl grabs her hand.

"No." He grunts.

"This way, We can go through the woods. Best him there." Maggie says before leading the group down stream to the bridge.

They all jog quickly getting to the bridge. Abby's eyes widened as walkers filled the bridge. Her eyes soon fell on rick, covered in blood. He limped carefully as the walkers followed him. Abby's eyes filled with tears.

"We gotta go help him!" She yells at daryl.

"What's he doing?!" Maggie yells panicking.

"He's hurt!" Michonne says in pain.

"That herd will go right through hilltop. He's trying to bring down the bridge." Daryl says making abby panic more.

"We gotta do something!" Abby says as michonne pulls out her sword.

"We turn them around, fight them back!" Maggie says running. The others follow as abby stand with daryl watching rick with willow and theo.

"Daryl, we gotta go help. Come on." Abby says as she notices rick waving his hand. He shook his head. Rick fought back as daryl shot arrows into walkers heads that got to close. Rick looked at her. She knew that look.

"He's gonna sacrifice himself." She says voice shaking. Daryl didn't dare look at her. Before she could say anything she watches as rick raised his gun. Shooting once. The explosion shook abby. Theo started crying instantly as abby fell to the ground. Willow held theo tightly as she cried into him. Abby sobbed in ball. Rick was gone. Only two grimes were alive.
