Oikawa was more than used to girls throwing themselves at him, so when his girlfriend had told him she wasn't feeling in the mood to hang out or talk, he didn't know what to do.
Usually when he was feeling lonely he would go and flirt with fangirls and accept all the gifts they had to give him, but he didn't do that anymore. He loved his girlfriend and wanted her attention only.
He let it slide, however, and figured she was just being hormonal or something and wanted to be alone for a day. He busied himself with homework and volleyball, and forced her out of his mind.
When it went on like this for a few days, however, Oikawa was pissed. He didn't understand how she thought it was okay to not speak to him or hang out with him for days without explaining herself.
So, on Monday when he usually takes Takeru to volleyball, he headed over to (f/n)'s house. He was going to give her a piece of his mind, but in the kindest way possible. He didn't want to cause a scene or make her angry, but he was hurt and he needed her to know that.
When Oikawa knocked on the door of his girlfriend's house, he knew that her mother would answer the door. He greeted her with a smile and was immediately allowed in, greeting (f/n)'s father and siblings on his way to the girl's room.
He knocked on her door the same as he had the front door, and got a 'go away' in response. He entered anyways and saw his girlfriend sat at her desk.
"I said go awa-"
She was cut off when she saw who it was she was speaking with, and her eyes widened. Oikawa shut her door and gave her a stern look, hoping it wasn't too mean.
"Why have you been ignoring me?"
"T-Tooru," she said, surprised that the boy was in her room and not with his nephew.
"I've been trying for days to talk to you and get you to communicate with me and go on dates with me, but you've been ignoring me. I haven't done anything to deserve this behaviour, (f/n), and I don't think tha-"
He was cut off when tears started streaming down (f/n)'s face, and he was immediately filled with guilt. He had only seen her cry once before this, and that was because a dog died in a movie they were watching.
This was hell compared to that; these were real tears streaming down her face caused by her being in pain.
"(f-f/n)," he started, reaching his hand out to touch her.
She broke into actual sobs then, her body shaking. Tooru could feel his stomach drop at the sight. He didn't know it was possible to physically hurt because someone you loved was hurting.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be mean, I just am frustrated. I want nothing more than to make sure I talk to you every day an-"
"It's not you," she said, and that made Oikawa hurt even more, if possible.
He was pissed at the thought of someone else hurting her to the point where she would be sobbing. He could easily fix the problem if he was the one who caused it, but when somebody else caused the problem he couldn't solve it. Well, not without violence.
"T-then what's wrong? I could help you, I could kick someone's a-"
(f/n) latched onto her boyfriend and sobbed even harder, letting the shirt on his body soak up her tears.
"It's been a bad day, Tooru," she said through her sobs, and that broke Oikawa's heart.
He figured that it wasn't only a bad day, that she was having a bad week overall, but he didn't say anything like that, knowing it would be unhelpful. Instead, he wrapped his arms snugly around her and rubbed her back slowly.
"Hey, it's gonna be okay," he whispered to her, all of his before feelings gone.
He wasn't angry anymore, and he didn't want to talk with her about why she was ignoring him; he just wanted her to be better.
"It's okay to cry, (f/n). Bad days happen, you just gotta power through them. I'm here for you, just please next time tell me when you're not feeling well so I can help you."
(f/n) told him she would do that next time and apologized over and over again before the two pulled away from each other. She explained to him that she didn't want him to see her so sad and miserable, so she stuffed herself in her room and didn't speak with anyone.
She didn't even understand why she was sad; how was she supposed to tell her boyfriend what was wrong if she couldn't tell herself? How was he supposed to help her when she didn't know what was wrong?
"You look rather tired," Oikawa said quietly. He placed his right hand behind her head and his left one on her arm. He tilted her head back slowly and placed a gentle, loving kiss on her forehead. "Let's take a nap, okay?"
She immediately agreed; (f/n) loved nothing more in the world than curling up and cuddling with Oikawa, whether to sleep or to watch a movie or to just sit there and be together.
She told Oikawa to get comfortable and then informed her parents they would be taking a nap and to wake them up later so Oikawa could go home. When she returned to her room Oikawa had crawled into her bed and was waiting for her.
"I should have told you earlier," she mumbled while crawling into bed beside him. She had pulled her curtain shut and turned off every light, hoping to make it feel more like night time so it was easier to sleep. "I've wanted nothing but cuddles the last few days."
The setter pulled his girlfriend's body closer and situated their bodies underneath the blanket in the most comfortable manner possible.
"I'll never make you talk about things if you're not ready, but I will always, always be ready to comfort you. No matter what."
Every bad day (f/n) had from that day on was spent like that one; in Oikawa's arms, the coziest place in the world.
