(f/n) didn't sign up for this, didn't sign up for helping Takeda carry bags of now clean laundry from the basement of the school to the volleyball club. She didn't want to do it, but when she saw her teacher trying to juggle two bags of laundry and stacks of papers, she had to help; if she hadn't it would have made her feel guilty for the rest of the week.

So, she was carrying a bag of clean practice tees to the volleyball gym instead of heading to the art club where she was needed. Takeda was thankful for the help, telling (f/n) that he would talk with the adviser of the art club if she was in trouble at all for being late, but she assured him it was fine and helped him carry the bags to the damn gym - why was the gym so far away again?

The whole walk was full of Takeda explaining that they needed so many practice jerseys because they were having practice games all week with a team from Tokyo. The coach of the team had called while they were on their way, explaining that they had forgotten their own jerseys so they'd need to borrow some. Takeda, being the perfect, kind souled man he was, set off to start an extra load of laundry immediately.

(f/n) really couldn't be mad because Takeda was the kindest teacher in the entire school, and if she was late to her club because she was helping him, that would be okay. Arriving at the gym was more of a relief than anything else, (f/n) setting the bag on the floor beside Kiyoko with a sigh. Kiyoko, the second kindest soul in the entire school, thanked (f/n) with a smile and a plastic bottle of water.

"It was no big deal - I've really gotta get going though." She waved goodbye and walked quickly towards the door, only to be met with a rush of people.

She was so startled she almost fell backwards onto her ass, but was caught by two hands on her upper arms, her right hand reaching out to touch the chest in front of her, working as a little more of an anchor. She looked up and met yellow eyes of a boy she'd never seen before, but all that was running through her mind was getting to the club room.

"I'm so sorry, I'm kind of in a rush," she said, stepping away from the boy. He smiled down at her.

"It's no problem, really," he replied, hands leaving her arms. She waved to him - and then to Daichi beside him - before running out of the building.

"She's the president of her club; she was probably made late by coming here."

Kuroo nodded, forgetting the girl altogether in order to fully focus on volleyball.

It wasn't until after the practice games anyone realized how important those few touches between (f/n) and Kuroo were. They were changing out of their practice outfits and into clean clothes when Lev pointed out the hand print on Kuroo's chest.

It was an average size for a girl's hand, a masterpiece of different purples on his chest right over his heart. He was dumbfounded, not able to hear any of his team's cheering until Lev shouted.

"You met your soulmate!"

Kuroo stared at it, trying to register when it happened and how it happened and why hadn't he fucking noticed that it happened? His facial expression must have shown some kind of confusion, because Kenma spoke up next.

"You don't know who it is," he said matter-of-factly. His yellow eyes were looking at Kuroo with disbelief, completely surprised at the idiot he called his best friend.
