"So, (f/n), I would love to hear how you met our son," Koutarou's mother said with a kind smile, and (f/n) almost allowed herself to burst into laughter. She held it back, however, and turned to her boyfriend with a look that he knew wasn't good.

"You haven't told them about how we met?" she asked in a mischievous voice, and Koutarou just looked down with a sense of shame. "Oh my gosh, you guys are in for the best story!" she told the older couple at the table.

*Start flashback thing*

Bokuto had never been more excited in his life; he and Kuroo were moving into an apartment together. It was rather small, but it fit all of their few belongings easily, and came furnished with a microwave for all of their meal needs. The two were carrying up the couch when Bokuto caught sight of their new neighbor, resulting in him dropping his end of their couch, the heavy furniture almost landing on his toes.

The woman didn't seem to notice, as she was busy talking to who Kuroo and Bokuto assumed was her own roommate. Kuroo almost cursed Bokuto out until he saw what had him so distracted, and he too placed his end of the couch on the ground to watch the girls converse. They shook themselves out of it when the girls looked over to them, Bokuto immediately turning to pick up his end of the couch again.

"Break over!" he had shouted, hauling the couch off with Kuroo. The girls just watched, smiles on their faces as the boys walked by them with red, sweat covered faces.

From then on, Bokuto saw (f/n) very often. Getting mail, taking out trash, doing laundry - there wasn't a day where they weren't running into each other, but Bokuto didn't even know the girl's name. He whined to Kuroo day after day.

"Bro, she's so cute how do I get her attention?"

"Bro, what if she doesn't wanna date me and living next door to her gets weird?"

"Bro, we'd have to move if she rejected me."

Each of these sentences were said with Bokuto's head slammed against their coffee table, his frown out of sight for Kuroo but not unknown.

It was two weeks after they moved in that Kuroo told Bokuto to go over there and talk to her or shut the hell up. Bokuto chose the former, wanting nothing more to talk to her, and went to the internet for ideas on how to get your neighbor to date you - the one he chose wasn't the ideal one in this situation.

He marched to her door with a triumphant smirk on his face, and knocked on the door. Kuroo was watching from their own doorway, his hand clasped over his mouth to hold in the boisterous laughs that wanted to escape him.

When the girl's door opened Bokuto was met with a smiling (f/n). "Can I help you with anything?" she asked politely, noting Kuroo, who was leaning obnoxiously out of their door.

"Yes actually, you can!" Bokuto said matter-of-factly, and he pulled the jar of jam out from behind his back. "Can you open this jar for me?"

(f/n) was awestruck; she looked from Bokuto, to the jar, to the now histarically laughing Kuroo, and then back to Bokuto.

"Umm, you need my help opening that jar?" she asked, pointing to the jar of jam which, if she may note, had already been opened. Bokuto didn't seem to notice the fault in this plan and nodded excitedly, holding the jar out for her to take. "Even with your manly muscles? And your roommates almost as manly muscles?" she asked, hesitantly reaching for the jar. She was sure this was some kind of joke - a trap maybe? - but she didn't want to be rude in case they really needed help with this. (although it seemed very unlikely.)

Bokuto seemed to notice the fault then, and his face blanked for a second. It was then that (f/n) realized two things; one. this wasn't a joke. Her very ripped, fit next door neighbor actually asked her to help him open a - again, already opened - jar of jam. and two. He didn't even realize that there was a fault to his plan; he didn't even realize that (f/n) couldn't even lift half as much as he could.

"Oh god-" Bokuto started, finally blinking his eyes. "I didn't realize this was a stupid idea? I just think you're really cute, and Kuroo told me that if I didn't talk to you today that I would have to shut up about how cute you are, and I couldn't do that because you're so cute man, and I just wanted an excuse to talk to you? Wow, I'm an idiot, now we have to move Kuroo, because you let me-"

He was cut off when the jar was taken from his hands, and he turned to watch (f/n) very easily pop off the lid. "Here you go, sir," she said with a smile, and Bokuto saw a slight blush on her cheeks. "I've gotta go get ready for work, but you can come over later, okay?"

Bokuto could barely nod and (f/n) waved to both he and Kuroo before shutting her door.

"Bro," Bokuto started, staring at the jar in his right hand and the lid in his left. "BRO. She opened the jar! And she invited me over, even after I rambled on about how cute she is! My god this girl-"

"Bro, she can hear everything you're saying," Kuroo said, and Bokuto blushed before running into their apartment to get rid of the embarrassment and also think about what the hell he was going to wear later with that girl.

*End flashback thing*

By the end of the story Koutarou's mother was almost in tears from laughter and his father was slamming his hand against the table because he couldn't contain his enthusiasm. Every visible part of Koutarou was painted red, and he then proceeded to slam his head onto the table repeatedly because he used to be such an idiot.

"And then he came over to my house later that night in the nicest clothes possible when I just wanted to watch a movie," (f/n) ended, her hands reaching out to stop her boyfriend's harsh head movements.

"I'm stupid," he mumbled, and (f/n) only chuckled before kissing his very red forehead.

"No, you're cute," she mumbled back. The moment wasn't all too romantic, not with Koutarou's parents almost dying from laughter in the background, but Koutarou knew she wouldn't lie about that and allowed a smile to cross his face.

"So are you."
