For as long as he could remember Futakuchi was getting scrapes and small bruises that didn't belong to him, that weren't from his own mishaps. His mom always told him that they belonged to his soulmate, and that every mark that popped up on him after he tripped would pop up on them too, mark their skin in the exact same place it marked his.

Sometimes Futakuchi wished that they lived in a world where the soulmate thing was different, more convenient - his soulmate's marks on his body weren't helpful at all in terms of him having to find his soulmate, and gaining every injury that she got just worried him a lot sometimes.

On the days where she'd get a particularly random cut or a rather large bruise he would lie awake at night and worry - he wanted her to be okay, didn't want anything harming her or causing terrible bruises or even shallow scratches on her. He knew there wasn't any way for him to find his soulmate this way - he didn't know if they were in the same area as him, so getting seriously injured wouldn't help in trying to find them.

So, he decided to wait it out, and while he wasn't a very patient person he had no problem waiting for this - he would meet his soulmate one day as he was destine to, and until that day he would count the marks on his body and make sure his soulmate was fine, that they weren't getting severely harmed.

His soulmate was doing pretty good, at least it seemed so by the very few marks on his body. There were a couple of small scratches on his hands that he knew weren't his, and he figured that his soulmate owned a playful kitten that was still in the stage where it attacked everything in sight, including its human's hands.

Besides the small scratches on his hands, though, there wasn't much - no random bruises to keep him awake at night or aching wrist that he had experienced for weeks a couple of months back. Every month for a couple of days he felt a weird pain in his lower abdomen, and when he asked his mother about it she said that it was the pain of his soulmate's cramps from their period.

Futakcuhi had more appreciation for women then, having to deal with those cramps every month on top of all of the other aches and troubles that came with periods. He learned to medicate himself properly when he was experiencing the cramps, and he hoped that the medication helped ease his soulmate's pains like it did his own.

It was his second year in high school that Futakcuhi found his soulmate.

He had been at volleyball practice, working on teaching Koganegawa how to block better, blocking spike after spike from the other members of the team, critiquing him when he was wrong and giving him a little praise when he did it right.

It was during a particularly hard spike from Aone that Futakuchi felt an unbearable pain in the pinky on his right hand, and he cried out in pain. He looked down to see the small finger already growing an angry red color, and it looked like it wasn't in the proper place on his hand.

God his soulmate must be pissed now - he messed up a block, the one thing he was supposed to be good at, and managed to dislocate his finger in the process.

"Get to the nurse's office now," the coach said after eyeing the finger.

Futakuchi did so, being escorted by Aone, who felt terrible for harming his friend.

"It's okay," Futakuchi said with a pained look on his face. It wasn't really all that okay - now he had to endure the pain of it getting popped back into place and he'd have to wear a splint on it for a little while and he didn't even want to imagine the way his soulmate was reacting right now - but he'd never seen Aone looking so guilty so he had to tell him it was okay.

They walked in to the nurse's office only a few minutes after leaving the gym and they were both surprised to find the nurse already treating somebody. "Do you know what happened?" the nurse asked the girl, looking at her hand.

"No, it must have been my soulmate," she said, voice laced with pain. Futakuchi frowned - that's probably how his soulmate is feeling right now, in so much pain for no reason.

The nurse turned around to grab ice for the girl on the bench and was surprised to be met with the two boys stood in the doorway. She looked down at Futakuchi's right hand resting in his left. "What happened to you?"

"Blocked wrong, we think it's dislocated."

The nurses eyebrows shot up and she glanced at the girl sitting on the bench before smiling. "Well, I don't want to jump to conclusions but I think you've got some apologizing to do," she said with a smirk, gesturing to the girl on the bed.

Futakuchi took a closer look at her hand and realized it looked exactly the same as his - right hand being held in the left, pink red and swollen and out of place.

The girl seemed to realize what the nurse was hinting at too and she frowned. "This was really rude of you - I was giving a lecture to my club when this happened!"

Futakuchi allowed a sheepish smile to cross his face. "I'm really sorry - I don't know how it happened really, I've never blocked wrong before, but-"

The girl cut him off with a laugh, "It's actually fine - very painful, but now we've met." She looked behind Futakuchi to see Aone, who looked both very concerned and a little embarrassed about the entire situation. "Aone, right?" she asked, and the tall man nodded. "Thank you for dislocating his - well, our fingers," she said, small smile on her face despite the situation.

Aone nodded, a little confused about why he was being thanked, and then he was being rushed out of the room by the nurse.

She spent a few minutes popping their pinkies back in to place - Futakuchi swears he didn't cry, but (f/n) saw and made sure to laughed at him because she didn't cry. After that the nurse wrapped their pinkies and then left them to talk and ice their fingers for a while.

"Why do we have this?" Futakuchi asked, pointing at the small scar on his left thumb.

(f/n) smiled at the question and ran her thumb over the scar on Futakuchi's thumb. "I was trying to take out the trash once, and my brother hadn't told me that there was broken glass in it, and it stabbed me."

Futakuchi smiled with (f/n) and they continued asking each other questions about the small scars they've accumulated together.

"Do you have a cat?" Futakuchi asked, pointing to the matching scratches on their hands. (f/n) laughed and nodded.

"Yeah, a new kitten - she's crazy playful, and I keep waking up in the middle of the nights to her fighting my hands."

Futakuchi laughed at that. "Well, I need to meet this cat that is leaving me all covered in scratches," he said. (f/n) reached out with her non injured hand and very carefully grabbed his injured one.

"After we heal from your failed block you can definitely come meet the cat."

Futackuchi smiled and nodded before cupping his hands around (f/n)'s. "Sounds purrfect," he said with a smirk.

(f/n) shoved him away with an appalled look. "You ruined the moment."

Futakuchi mock frowned and tried to grab (f/n)'s hand again, "I'm sorry forgive me please!" (f/n) allowed him to grab her hands again, a smile crossing her face.

"It was a pretty nice pun," she said, and Futakuchi was smiling wide.

"Damn right it was!"
