Being best friends with someone since you could remember is both a comforting situation and an uncomfortable one - best friends for seventeen years knew everything about each other, had relatively no secrets between them.
But (f/n) had a secret her best friend didn't know about; she liked him - a lot. At first she thought it was because Suga was always there - in every memory, every good time and bad time, every slumber party and every anime induced breakdown. Suga was always there, right beside (f/n) in every memory or good time she had, and she thought that maybe that was why she was so interested in Suga.
But she learned in her second year of high school that it was so much more. Every time someone would ask if they were dating or comment on how cute of a couple they were (f/n) would internally beam - being cute with Suga made her happy. But then he'd smile and say "No, we're just friends," and the use of the word 'just' would dampen her mood immediately.
(f/n) didn't want to be 'just' friends with Suga - she wanted to be Suga's best friend and his girlfriend. She wanted to be the person to fill the two most important roles outside of family in his life. She knew it was selfish of her - she had already had Suga beside her for seventeen years, which is more than she could ever have hoped for - but she wanted so much more.
She wanted the friendly cuddles to be a little more intimate, a little more important, she wanted the hand holding they did in hard situations to be a normal, everyday occurrence, she wanted to kiss Suga's pretty face all the time everyday. She wanted Suga, and she felt so damn selfish.
She held it in, though. She only let Daichi know about her feelings, because he was someone who reasoned with her when she was too hard on herself for being selfish, and he kept the secret pretty damn well.
In the end, she was content for now - she'd graduate soon and get to a place where she could meet new boys. She'd still have Suga everyday, but new bodies for her affection to go towards would be good for her, and she only had to wait a few more months.

"(l/n)-San!" Hinata called, and the girl being called turned to smile at the boy. "Did you bring us snacks today?" he asked excitedly, and the girl laughed.
"Yes, of course," she said, taking out a container with honey soaked lemon slices. "Make sure you share with everyone else though, last time I thought Kageyama was actually going to kill you."
Hinata saluted the girl and then ran off towards the group of volleyball players with the snack box in hand and a large smile on his face.
Suga and Daichi came walking towards her, and she handed them the lemons she'd made solely for the third years because the first and second years eat far too sloppy and fast for their liking.
"Study session tonight still in place?" (f/n) asked Suga before eating a lemon slice.
"Yeah, I've got this test tomorrow that's going to be a mess if I don't have some help, so I'll be over after practice."
(f/n) nodded her understanding and took a drink of Suga's water before handing it back for him to take a drink. "Ooh!" Hinata said, eyes sparkling. "An indirect kiss!"
(f/n) and Suga looked at each other before shrugging it off - they'd shared everything since they were children, it really wasn't a big deal for them. (f/n) leaned forward and kissed Suga's cheek, their usual goodbye, before she was leaving the gym.
Once she was gone Suga turned to see Hinata's wide eyes. "What is it?" he asked the redhead, a little concerned for him.
"How long have you and (f/n) been in a relationship?"
Suga laughed, "we're just friends, Hinata."
Suga internally frowned at that. Just friends.

"You should have just picked them up on your way to my house," (f/n) said, arms raised over her head in a stretch.
"But then I'd have to pay for them all," Suga said, his mouth in a smirk. "You eat a lot of snacks, (f/n), and I don't think it's fair for me to buy them all."
(f/n) glared at him. "You eat just as much as I do, and I bought all of the snacks the other day," she mumbled, her arms crossing over her chest.
Suga smiled wide at her. "I'll pay today, but I didn't wanna go alone. So get what you want and don't worry about spending money." (f/n) smiled wide and thanked Suga before running into the small shop, and Suga entered behind her with a large smile on his face.
He greeted Ukai and grabbed a few things for himself before meeting (f/n) at the counter and pulling out his wallet.
"About time you two have gotten together," Ukai said while scanning the snacks.
(f/n) flushed and Suga was the one to speak as usual. "Still just friends, Ukai-Sensei," Suga said, handing the older man the money. He seemed confused at the situation but didn't say anything more.
The pair left the shop with their bags in hands and smiles on their faces. It wasn't at all awkward like it had been before - they both made it look as if they were okay, but were both sad on the inside because they were just friends.

(f/n) had had enough of people mistaking she and Suga for a couple only a few days after the Ukai incident. She and Suga had went out together for lunch at a small restaurant and then went for a walk in the park. They were laughing loud together and sharing some snacks when an old couple walked by and greeted them.
"Awe look sweety," the old man said to his wife, smile large on his face. "They're a lot like we were."
Suga and (f/n) looked to the couple, and Suga opened his mouth to deny iit again, but (f/n) stopped him. "Koushi," she said, looking at her best friend. "I like you," she said suddenly. "I understand if you don't since you know all of the grossest things about me, but I can't deal with all this anymore. I don't wanna keep it secret anymore. I really, really like you more than a friend. I don't expect you to return my feelings, but I had to le-"
(f/n) was cut off by Koushi hugging her and laughing loudly. "God I like you too," he said, and (f/n) could hear the smile in his voice. "For quite a while now I've known, but I was sure that you didn't like me at all like that."
(f/n) pulled back, large smile on her face. "Was I not obvious enough?"
Suga shook his head no, his smile wide too. "No, but I guess I wasn't either," he said. He nuzzled his nose against hers, and (f/n) took the little of the adrenaline she still had and put her lips against his, loving the feeling more than she'd thought she would. "So you will be my girlfriend, right?" he asked after pulling away from the kiss.
"Of course," (f/n) said, giggling with him. "So now not just friends." Her smile was wider than Suga had seen it in a while, and his grew to match it.
"Yeah - more than just friends."
