(f/n) was always with Iwazumi and Oikawa - it was no surprise to anybody when she showed up to morning practices with the boys or helped them with extra practice once everyone had left or when she participated in the monthly giant sleepover they'd been having since they were five years old.

They were the three musketeers - (f/n) and Iwaizumi and Oikawa, the best friends in the entire school, and they'd been known as such by all of their fellow classmates and family friends since they all could remember. It was weird if it was just two of them because it had always been the three of them, always together.

But lately, Iwaizumi had been feeling awfully left out.

It wasn't a big deal, at first - Oikawa had made a joke that only (f/n) understood, and they explained it to him quickly so he wouldn't feel super left out. That happened sometimes when one of them couldn't hang out with the other two, so they had to fill the unlucky third party in on the jokes and events they'd missed over the weekend. Iwaizumi had been stuck going to some family event, so Oikawa and (f/n) had spent the weekend without him - they told him the joke and all was fine for a few days.

But then Oikawa and (f/n) were texting just each other instead of their group chat, and Oikawa was whispering things into (f/n)'s ear that made her blush and (f/n) was slapping Oikawa in the back of his head more. Iwaizumi was confused about it at first - usually they would involve him in all of these things, the whispering and the inside jokes and the texting.

It all made sense to him eventually - he figured they were dating and were just too afraid to tell him because they didn't want him to feel left out. He wasn't dense, though, and he understood that they were becoming more comfortable with one another instead of as the three of them, so he slowly started extracting himself from the friendship.

Nothing drastic - he just spent fewer days after school with them and more in his room alone, curled up thinking about the situation, thinking why (f/n) like Oikawa and not him, and he excluded himself from more post-practice practices than he included himself in. Something that everyone seemed to notice, but he just shook it off - he told OIkawa and (f/n) that he wasn't feeling well for a couple of days, and then he told them he was stressed, then his excuse was homework, and his mother hounding him about college.

Oikawa and (f/n) obviously saw through every ploy, and they pushed for Iwaizumi to hang out with them when he insisted he couldn't, but (f/n) didn't want to annoy him - they'd been friends their entire life yet (f/n) still felt like she annoyed Iwauzmi when she asked for his presence.

So, she decided to wait. Iwaizumi would stop acting weird, he'd come around and be alright in due time. Until then she'd wait.

As the weeks passed (f/n) grew more and more sad with the situation. Iwaizumi had just flaked on she and Oikawa again, saying he had mounds of homework to do - something (f/n) was a lie because they were in the same damn class and they hadn't been given much work at all. So, it was just (f/n) and Oikawa again after practice, and (f/n) was going to spend all of that time sulking.

She allowed herself to spread out across the floor, and she groaned loudly. Oikawa joined her, opting for pouting over his best friend instead of practicing his serves. "Why does Iwa-Chan hate us now?" (f/n) asked quietly, curling up onto her side, facing Oikawa.

Oikawa did the same and pouted at (f/n) as she was to him. "I don't know - maybe he did something bad and is afraid to tell us? Or maybe he's into a really new, embarrassing anime and doesn't want to tell us because he doesn't want us to make fun of him. Or maybe-"
