okay I know I write Kuroo a lot but I fucking love Kuroo. I'll take a break from him after this so sorry.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 When Kuroo started think of things to do with (f/n) for their first Valentine's together, he'd thought of it all; a cute date at a small, not too expensive restaurant, a walk in her favorite park, and then they'd return to his home and end the night with sparkling cider and (f/n)'s favorite dessert. He even planned on making the dessert himself. But all of that was ruined when (f/n) walked into class Thursday and sat down beside him nervously.
"What's wrong?" he asked, reaching a hand out to hold hers.
"My Grandma called me last night," she started, her voice careful.
"Is she okay?" Kuroo asked nervously.
"Yeah, she's fine!" (f/n) said a bit too loudly, gaining some attention. "It's just-" she stopped talking and frowns a little. "Did you have anything planned for Valentine's day?" she asks quietly, nervous to be asking the question.
"Yeah, I just finished preparing things yesterday, and it's gonna be really nice." He smiled at the though and then turned back to see (f/n) with a distressed look on her face, which made his smile falter. "What's wrong?" He reached out to rub her arm and she leaned into the touch.
"My grandma asked me to go spend the day with her in her nursing home. I told her I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but I'll tell her that you made pl-"
"No!" Kuroo said, smiling at his girlfriend. He could tell that this was making her feel stressed, especially because he knew that (f/n)'s grandmother was going to be all alone on Valentine's Day. "We can go see her, spend time with her. I love your grandma, and it'd be nice to spend some more time with her. We'll be together, and she'll be happy which I know will make you happy, which in turn will make me happy."
(f/n) smiled wide, and barely scanned the room for a teacher before she leaned in and kissed Kuroo lightly. "You're the best," she whispered to him. She had to move away quickly after because the teacher walked in and neither of them wanted to get in trouble.
*****
On Sunday they met up at (f/n)'s house before heading to the bus they'd have to take to make it to the part of the city the nursing home was in. It wasn't a long ride, and they were walking into the front doors of the nursing home half an hour later. (f/n) and Kuroo had both visited her many times, so they had no troubles getting signed in and finding her room.
Inside she was sitting and waiting for the couple, a large smile growing on her face upon their entrance. Both teenagers leaned down to kiss her on the cheek and then Kuroo proceeded to pull the desserts (f/n) had made for them out of the small picnic basket they had brought. After they all were sat down with their desserts they began their conversation about anything and everything.
The topics ranged from school to sports to how terrible the food in the nursing home was to how (f/n)'s grandparents used to spend their Valentine's Days together. Kuroo and (f/n) listened to the stories with smiles, Kuroo mentally comparing the stories to what he'd planned for that day, making mental notes of what (f/n) loved to hear her grandma say and the things she was not interested in at all for future reference. It was a few hours of really enjoying each other's company, (f/n) and Kuroo sitting together in a small arm chair as they spoke.
When (f/n)'s grandmother went out for dinner in the common area (f/n) pushed her all the way there in a wheelchair, Kuroo making car noises the entire walk. The rest of their stay was nice; they sat with (f/n)'s grandmother while she ate, Kuroo chatting with one of the other ladies at the table about knitting. When (f/n) found out Kuroo could knit she cried from laughter, and when she was the scarf he knit - one sick ass scarf, he'd said when he showed (f/n) - she praised him. It was a warm scarf, one that she stole from him many times to warm her through the winter.
While he and the woman talked about knitting - the conversation warmed (f/n)'s heart more than it really should have - (f/n) and her grandmother talked about Kuroo and (f/n)'s grandfather. It was the most relaxed (f/n) had been in a while, and she would have stayed forever if Kuroo's mother hadn't specified that she needed him home early because she was working tonight and didn't want the house empty.
They boarded the train at six o'clock, and made it back to their part of town around six thirty, and Kuroo walked the opposite way from his house towards the small park. He couldn't have all of his perfect Valentine's day, but he sure wanted to have some of it. They walked and talked lightly, Kuroo expressing his excitement for the new co-op game that was coming out; it was the only game he ever really spoke of, because it was a game he and Kenma played really well together.
(f/n) talked about how much she'd enjoyed the day with Kuroo, her smile wide as she told Kuroo how happy she was that they were able to spend their day with her favorite human in the world.
"You and that old lady bonding over knitting was the highlight of my dad," (f/n) informed Kuroo as they made their way back to he and his mother's small apartment. She was on the verge of laughing her ass off, but she managed not to.
"She gave me some very useful tips," he said in defense, and that just made (f/n) start laughing. Kuroo let go of her hand and started pouting, which made (f/n) laugh even harder.
"Kuroo, there is nothing hotter in this world than you being able to knit," (f/n) said in the most serious tone she could muster up. Kuroo glared at her, his arms still crossed. "I'm serious, Kuroo, I can't knit to save my life, I'm a mess and don't have the patience. You knitting shows good qualities, and knitting itself is a good quality."
(f/n) then forced his arms to unfold from his body and she wrapped them around her body. He squeezed her tightly and burrowed his face in her hair. "You're mean," he whispered to her.
She pulled out of the hug and kissed him lightly. "You love it," she said to him matter of factly, and he sighed but smiled.
"I do," he agreed, kissing her nose once before pulling away. They spent the rest of the walk in silence, (f/n) only speaking when they made it into Kuroo's home and she excused herself.
Kuroo led her into the kitchen and she grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge and shut it only to be met with Kuroo holding a chocolate cake. It wasn't much, just a small cake that he had asked his mother to make while they were gone. She decorated it lightly, putting pink and red hearts all over it, and even wrote Kuroo's and (f/n)'s names on it. He blushed upon seeing that, but let (f/n) take the cake away from him anyways, a look of awe on her face.
"I didn't make it," he started, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, "but I had planned to make one for you. So, my mom did while we were away today. It was supposed to be the final part of our perfect day, but I knew it would be better to go see your grandma."
(f/n) set the cake down and pulled Kuroo into a kiss, her heart fluttering at the gesture. "I love you," she said to him against his lips. He kissed her again, this one lasting a bit longer.
"I love you too," he said when they pulled away. "I love you very much."
